Do you like tea?

I've been fond of tea since I was a kid. I became even fonder of it when I realized that loose-leaf tea was much better than most stuff you find in teabags.

Post Re: Do you like tea?
Tea is great.

- No calories
- Keeps its quality for a long time (as opposed to coffee, where even whole beans go stale in too short a period of time to use it all)
- Lots of different types/styles/flavours
- Varying caffeine levels (quality stuff is drinkable at night, whereas with coffee you have to go with decaf)
- Good at varying temperatures; most other drinks have a much more narrow temperature range where they're still good

My favourite is probably Genmaicha, but I like a lot of different kinds; Earl Grey, Kukicha, and Hojicha come to mind. Maybe when I run out of tea (I have way too much to justify stocking up on more) I'll try out some kind of Oolong and White.

I'll be honest, i can't stand it. Never seen the appeal. Especially as it's like a national institution here, heh.

I love tea. At least one cup a day. Black tea is my favorite, particularly darjeeling.

For the most part, no, I've never really liked tea & I only drink it occasionally. I do like green tea, but mainly only when it's cold, but I rarely drink it anymore. For a long time, it made me feel better when I was depressed & I drank it constantly. The only hot beverage I like is hot chocolate.

I must say I quite like a spot of tea every now and then. Normal black is my favorite but I also like Earl and lady Grey and also green tea with lemon.

I love tea. I used to like it extra sweet when I was a kid, but now I like it plain.

Same. You just have to get used to it.

North Americans feel like they need to add sugar to everything. It's a shame.

I've just started drinking tea frequently as an alternative to coffee. I love it, i need to eventually invest in a strainer and tea sets. But for now, I've been using tea bags, they're really convenient since its always tea for one. I've been enjoying sweet fruity teas, Mango citrus and Blueberry pomegranate.

Apple cinnamon sounds delicious.

It's ok on occasion. My mother only drinks tea, so I've gotten tired of it.

If you want quality Japanese green tea, use O-Cha.

For quality non-green tea (and green), use Adagio.

The net is the best place to buy tea.

I drink tea quite frequently. I don't really like it when its cold but when it's just off the stove, it's so hot and it fills me with warmth, its nice.

It's okay, but I very seldom drink it. I'm not too fond of warm drinks as I'm usually very warm. Ice tea is terrible, though.

I'm not a tea regular, the last time I drank it was on the flight to NYC in 2003. But hey, at least once every decade!

Lots of teas from store-shelves make me want to vomit. I only drink them if it's all I can get.

Chinese green tea is way cheaper than Japanese, hence why most store-shelves carry it rather than high-quality teas from Japan. For $1, you often can buy enough Chinese green tea to brew 100+ cups, while with Japanese, with that much money you can usually brew 5 cups or so.

I know the difference between Chinese green tea, and Japanese. Not only is the taste very different, so is the color. Most Chinese green teas have a dark, dirty look to them, while most Japanese are fluorescent green like in the pic below.

China supposedly has high-quality green teas, but them, along with India, are known more for their superior black teas.

That O-Cha site is weird, I don't trust it.

Genmaicha with Matcha:
Grams / Ounces per Pkg -- 200g / 7.05oz
Price per ounce -- $4.24
Price -- $14.95

7.05 X 4.24 = 14.95? I don't think so!

I love tea, yet I don't drink it that often, strange.

I like mine with a drop of honey if I feel like a bit of sweetness.

Naw, it's actually a good site. It's one of the few places I know of that ships fresh tea directly from Japan to you.

Keep in mind that O-Cha is a small privately-owned company. Small companies are more liable to making mistakes like that. I'm not sure if it's the owner of O-Cha who runs the site or not.

Thank you, Chair. Immediately bookmarked and planning to use both.

Post Re: Do you like tea?
I love tea. I mostly drink green tea varieties, but every now and then a cup nice, strong black tea is in order. Indian black teas have the most taste from what I've had. My absolute favourite tea is green jasmine tea. Sadly, good jasmine tea can be really costly, and the cheaper varietes taste oily and artificial. Luckily we have a well stocked tea and coffee importer where I live, and they carry an absolutely wonderful brand of chinese jasmine tea. Oolong teas are, from what I've tasted, also really great stuff.

If there's anyone out there who still uses tea bags: repent. You're getting the left overs from the superior loose leaf teas. It may be more expensive, but by dog is it ever worth it!

I am allergic to tea, oddly.

It makes me feel very sick to my stomach.
