Black Hole by Charles Burns, a 300 or 400 pg graphic novel about a crazy STD that hideously disfigures you, a girl's escape from society, and some other things...

Slowly reading through Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky. I really need to start reading books daily again.

I've been trying to look for that forever. Could you please post the title? I'm reading Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers.

Re: What are you currently reading?
In terms of books, right now I'm reading the novel 雪国 (Snow Country) by Yasunari Kawabata. It's about the doomed love affair of a Tokyoite and a provincial Geisha. It's amazing. I'm also in the middle of a French novel by Samuel Beckett called L'Innomable (The Unnameable). It is easily one of the most hikikomoriish novels I've ever read. It's amazing, too. In terms of manga, I'm reading the latest two Japanese volumes of Naruto (49 and 50), the first three volumes of Rumiko Takahashi's new series 境界のRin-ne (Rinne of the Borderworld) as well as the series Pluto by Naoki Urasawa, which is blowing me away.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Snow Country is great. I'm just rereading old stuff. I wish I had new books. Actually I'm just reading the manga "Toaru Kuugen, Boku no Himitsu" over and over again. It's just awesome.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Finishing "Outlaws of the Marsh", it's interesting but long and kind of drags. The Chinese hundreds of years ago had much different ideas about writing style than we do today. And I started a Star Wars book "Outcast" for something a little lighter.

I also agree that Snow Country is great. Currently re-reading something by Kenzaburo Oe I can't translate into English.

I read a book today for the first time in about 10 years -- The Good Guy by Dean Koontz. My sister gave it to me for my birthday, so I had to read it. =P

Re: What are you currently reading?
I adored Mrs. Dalloway...But Orlando is still my favorite of hers...
Anyways, Life in a Medieval Castle by Joseph and Frances Gies. It is, strangely, about life in a medieval castle. It's pretty awesome so far, it covers in brief the history of castles in Europe, focusing specifically on Chepstow in Wales, and moves on to examine other aspects of medieval society centering around castles. I'm also about to start Juego de tronos by George R.R. Martin and try to remember all of the Spanish I've forgotten.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Bought two books at the rummage table in our supermarket.
Tom Rob Smith - Child 44
Michael Winterhoff - Warum unsere Kinder Tyrannen werden. Oder: Die Abschaffung der Kindheit ("Why our children are turning into tyranns. Or: the abolition of childhood.")
I read that it also told about Japanese hikikomori. I'm very curious.

@Norikon
How are you finding Birth of Tragedy? I'm not a huge fan of Nietzsche's philosophy but I really thought Birth of Tragedy was amazing.

Re: What are you currently reading?
It's really good so far, but I tend to have to read it over and over and read it slowly because I've never been good at processing books in my mind. It's much easier if someone read it to me and kind of explained a little of he is saying. But I don't have anyone to do that!

I'm currently the Uncle John Bathroom Reader series, World War Z, two books on Sweden and its culture, a boating licence handbook, The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook that my councellor lent me, and a few manga volumes (Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, and Black Cat).

Re: What are you currently reading?
I read Nietzsche as dada. But I like him as a philosopher, too bad he is so popular and "cool" right now. Although, at the same time, I don't think he gave philosophy that much, he borrowed a lot of his ideas from Schopenhauer and Hegel, which I happen to dislike. When it comes to philosophers, I go either for Aristotle or for Kant, although I'm sick of philosophy already, I sometimes do it only because of boredom or reflex. Anyway, I will re-read Norwegian Wood by Murakami tomorrow. It's such a nice book. Nothing philosophical about it.

I love that book and the way it's written (a number of different stories about one event). I wonder if there's any other good zombie books (besides the survival guides).

Re: What are you currently reading?
Try audiobooks instead. That might help a little. You can either download them or find them at the library.
