Currently Comet in Moominland by Tove Jansson. I am trying to get to read all the Moomin books. My concentration is not very good at the moment but these books still manage to entertain me, yet be simple enough to keep me focused.

Alan Bradley - "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie"

^ German cover - I felt attracted to it when I saw this. (Though the title is kinda stupid since it can be translated in "Murder in a Cucumber Bed")

Still it's an awesome novel and I love the 11 year old detective heroine with her black humour.

I'm reading The War for Late Night, which is about the NBC fiasco that screwed Conan O'Brien out of the Tonight show. It's by the same guy who wrote The Late Shift about Jay Leno vs. David Letterman. I'm not normally that into reading about a bunch of business decisions and contract negotiations, but this is actually pretty interesting.

Right now, I'm reading Brief an den Vater (Letter to the Father) by Franz Kafka. I can only read a few pages at a time, though, since I find it strangely excruciating to read. I've never read a great piece of writing in which the author presents himself so nakedly. It's beautiful but harrowing.

I just started reading that and I love it. Great pick! It's really quite depressing so far - but it's nice to hear a lot of those depressing "life is meaningless"-type thoughts I've had over the years articulated so well by another person.

As for what I'm currently reading - "Generation A" by Douglas Coupland. It's the only fiction novel by him I haven't read yet. I tend to read mostly fiction and mostly stick with the same authors. Since high school it's been Yann Martel, Nick Hornby and Douglas Coupland. Before then it was R.L. Stein (Goosebumps series) and K.A. Applegate (Animorphs series). The only authors I've ever really delved into in the non-fiction department are Nietzche, Carl Sagan and Noam Chomsky; I think I'll be adding Alan Watts to that list as well...
