Re: What are you currently reading?
It might be a better title but "The girl who played with fire" is true to the original title "Flickan som lekte med elden", and I like it when even the title is translated well.

Re: What are you currently reading?
I was looking at my cousins facebook profile yesterday and it said, next to reading. "NONE i HATE reading." Chair's post doesn't seem that exaggerated a form of satire in light of that.
I finished Candide, but haven't started the other stories yet. Voltaire is a bit tough going because I often feel out of the loop when he's ridiculing a figure who would have been contempary knowledge to people at the time but to me, uneducated as I am, I could barely follow it with the aid of the notes. I think I'll read Dunsany's In the Land of Time and Other Fantasy Tales instead. I took a quick look inside and it seems just the ticket.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Have been reading quite a lot recently. Have watched very little television, and no movies at all in 2 weeks.
In the last 2 weeks I have read both Bridget Jones books, Lucky - Alice Sebold, Nobody True and The Rats - James Herbert, Adrian Mole: The Prostrate Years - Sue Townsend and am currently reading Fever Pitch - Nick Hornby

100 Years of Solitude
Pretty good. I'm already halfway through. Wish I had more to say about it, but it's hard to explain.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Laura Joh Rowland - The Fire Kimono (Sano Ichiro's 13th case) I'm pissed at the cover. Why did they have to do this? The 1st - 12th ones looked like in that style: Now it's like that... how ugly. (And it's still the same publisher...)

Re: What are you currently reading?
Mathematics of DFT with Audio Applications by Julius O. Smith III Science! If you want learn the theory of Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), read this book. It's available free online. I've read the first half of the book and have so far understood everything. I majored in digital signal processing so that shouldn't be a surprise but I never expected to understand a theory book this well. It helps that the book presents the theory more practically than the lecture slides we had at the university.

"Look Me In the Eye" by John Elder Robison. I didn't know until I started it that the author is Augusten Burroughs' brother. If I had known that, I would have read it sooner. It's really good so far.

When Life Lights Up by Serdar Özkan (not very promising so far to be honest, much like Paulo Coelho whose books I can hardly stand), also Comet in Moominland by Tove Jansson (always great).
