I'm reading a bunch of crap. A Star Trek book called Gemworld, and short stories in Sherlock Holmes, and The Elephant Vanishes by Murikami.

The Darkness That Comes Before by R. Scott Bakker
I started this last summer and never finished it. I like his world, but the characters suck and it's mostly political plotlines, which are not my favorite. Of course, I read it shortly after I finished A Feast for Crows, which probably tainted my opinion of it. Maybe I'll like it better this time.

Misery by Stephen King. Seems pretty good so far. The only reason I'm reading it is because there's nothing else. It's an old battered copy of my big brother's and I have to put up with his stupid fucking doodles on every second page.

Re: What are you currently reading?
I'm not a fan of Stephen King but I do like some of his earlier works. Misery I enjoyed if I remember. I'm finishing up A Farewell to Arms and starting Anthem by Ayn Rand; Which was a suggestion from Senmee (R.i.p.).

Dreamsongs Volume I by George R.R. Martin
His anthology of short stories spanning his career, interspersed with autobiographical snippets which are as interesting as the stories themselves. I started this the beginning of this year and stopped 3/4 of the way through it. After Bitterblooms, actually, which is probably one of my favorite short stories ever...I felt sort of guilty moving on.

Re: What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading the works of Thomas Troward - very very good. These books are about the power of our thoughts and using this (The Creative Power of the Individual and others). Quite hard to follow but well worth the effort. These books are free downloads as they are now in the public domain and can be found at the "manybooks dot net" website. Look beyond the religious references (he was from that era, so ties in some of his ideas with religion so people can better relate to them). Very deep stuff.

Re: What are you currently reading?
I am Morgan le Fay by Nancy Springer Why is she called Morgan here rather than Morgana? Other than that little confusion; so far it's good.

Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons.
It's awesome so far, but it's gonna take me ages to finish. It's nearly a thousand pages long. It keeps you interested by jumping back and forth between characters who are all connected and I assume are all gonna be brought together in the conclusion.

Just finished Trainspotting by Irvin Welsh. Now reading Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut. I realized I like his short stories more than his novels.
