I value work as much for the small amount of social interaction I get from being in an office as for the money I earn, so I think I'd have to find somewhere to go every other day just to stop myself from going crazy. I wouldn't do a crap job though. It would have to be something I enjoyed, but I'm not sure what.

It would depend on how many millions I have. If I only had like 2 or 3 million dollars then I would probably do my best to live off of it.

If I had more like 20 or 30 million dollars I would probably open my own business.

I'm not bothering to get a job now, so I definitely wouldn't if I was a millionaire.

Sounds like a fine plan to me. I would ideally do the same. I could start an HVAC/computer repair shop pretty easily if I had the money for it. I have the certifications and everything.

No way. If I had exactly a million I'd buy a house for around 100,000 then invest the rest and put myself on a $20,000 a year allowance. You can't live like a rock star or even upper middle class but you can live on it.

i think if i were a millionaire, i would invest in my own small business (and feeding it to make it grow) so that i can make more money. ^^

No chance. If I were a millionaire I'd just continue doing what I do now, except I'd live in my own house and not have to care about anyone else or care what people think about me. Maybe get myself a nice Russian bride, and I'd be set for life. =D

If i had a million dollars i'd put it in the bank and live off the interest. However i would actively look for a job, not for the money, but to fill other needs. I think i'd prefer to help with rehabilitation of physically disabled people around my own age. The reason being that i like to be needed. Outwardly it wouldn't look like it, but in reality the reason for such a job is completely selfish on my part.

In fact it's a little sickening to know that I'd use people that way.

I would buy lots of cocaine, so i would be able to make up up for all of those years of silence, because i heard doing cocaine makes you talk like crazy to anyone. I would get my old list of telephone-numbers of my class-mates and call everyone, and talk the shit outr of them. after every sentence i would scream:: " Im rich,bitch!". I would invest the rest of the money into stocks and a greedy but hot asian wife , who would take all of the money and escapes with an attractive mexican. afterwards, I would spend the rest of my life roaming around bars and tell other people how I've been at the top and lost everything. this story will teach them a lesson for life and i will be remembered as a poor, but authentic story-teller. that would be awesome. this plan doesnt involve going to work btw.

I agree with Chair that a million could last a lifetime. I live in the US and people here tend to be very stupid with their spending. I will never possess a credit card, and I care not for material luxuries. If I had $1,000,000 USD, then I would invest it and NOT buy a house or anything in cash. Why do that? I would just get a small apartment to rent and live in that instead of blowing a huge chunk of my money just to own a house when I don't even care about owning things anyway. I would spend my money on: rent, anything vehicle-related that was necessary (possible car payment, insurance, maintaining, gas), utilities, groceries (I am very cheap with my diet, and I always cook at home), an internet connection, taking care of a pet (cat), and I would allow myself an international trip once per year to places like Japan, China, Korea, the Caribbean, etc. I am certain that I would never run out of money.

I think $1,000,000 is enough money to live off of. I can buy a cheap apartment, and live off of cheap food. If I run out of money, I can always sell stuff for money. You don't NEED a house and good food and everything, you can life fine with a small apartment and convenience store food. If you complain about vitamins, then buy some supplements, they aren't THAT expensive either.

Most of the money would go into some kind of mutual fund/investment. 10% would go towards charity. l would use some of it to pay for my family's debts and use some more to pay for my sister and my education.

The 10% isn't arbitrary. l based it on church tithes. l just don't feel right having all that money and not using it for some good. Don't get me wrong, l plan to do some wasteful spending. Just like to balance out my karma

Well I'm more emotionally needy than financially but that can easily change. I'm child...ish. And the U.S. has developed various things.

The HikiCulture Foundation should be raising money to buy a huge mansion for us all to live in!

actually I dont know if I would work.
But if I have a Job when I get the money I think i would still do my job, maybe with less working hours.
but if I am unemployed I really don't know if I am motivated enough to get a Job, if I don't really need a job to life on.

I would do volunteer work.

I hate to admit it, but a lot of my stress would be relieved by having money.
