 Poetry
Writing is my main hobby and I ve been in a poetry mood recently so i ve written quite a bit. I ll probably be posting the occasional poem here for you enjoyment (hopefully).
Anyway, here s the first one:
Mental Bondage
Shackles of embarrassment, Chained to a wall of shame, Prevent me from enjoying, My turn of the game.
I know it makes no sense. We haven't a moment to waste. But my brain is deaf to reason, And hence life I'm unable to taste.
Invisible bonds, And silent restraints, Mean we can't even choose, Whether to be sinners or saints.
We remain in the centre, Between the extremes. No chance of adventure, Outside of our dreams.
A life of mediocrity, That we're convinced is okay, To halt us from trying, And to make us obey.
We live by the void, For all eternity, Drinking from the nothing, Wondering why we feel empty.
A soul constrained, By the rest of my kind, With only a distant glint of hope, Of owning a liberated mind.

 Re: Poetry
I ve got another one for you:
Too Low to Serve
My only desire is to serve, But not even that will you give. Just to be of use to others, Is how I would be content to live.
I'm not above begging, For an opportunity to contribute. I may be inept. I may be mute.
But I can still be useful. All I need is the chance. Self-loathing is my shield, And devotion my lance.
Perhaps unequal to your volume, But I can still add to the sphere, Of human wisdom and culture, So I won't disappear.
With a collar of idleness, And guilt binding my wrists, My efforts are hindered, No matter how much my mind insists.
We'd all like to believe in our potential, Of being workers most fervent. But have you ever tasted the humiliation, Of being branded not good enough to be a servant?

 Re: Poetry
Thanks for the support. A lot of what I write is inspired by Hiki life.
Here s the next one:
The Evolution Trial
Relinquish all your trust, In the guiding force, That's helped us all, Since the time of the source.
With each new generation, It makes us stronger. We become more powerful, As our species continues for longer.
At least that's the theory, So then why do I frown? I only have one query, Does anyone else feel let down?
All the failures before me. That's why I'm alive, And still I have not been given, The gifts required to survive.
You were given a job to do, And yet your purpose was not fulfilled. Just like a farmworker, Whose field has not been tilled.
Come what may, You told us you could adapt. But I can't be the only one, There must be others who feel trapped.
You haven't delivered what was promised, In these modern times. You are responsible for these deaths, And now you must pay for your crimes.

 Re: Poetry
The Room
Can you see inside my cell? No of course you can't, For it is a private Hell.
I've been here for time unknown, Waiting for the nothing tomorrow brings. But the results of my spent time are clearly shown,
On the once bare walls that confine me, Where no doors or windows lie, Only my pictures can I see.
I could behold their beauty forever, But if I choose to stay, Others shall see them never.
And so a thought descended from my crown, If I wish to share my creation, I must tear part of it down.

 Re: Poetry
Lord of Cowards
A curse of loneliness, Combined with people to fear. The Mother's cruel joke, Whose purpose is unclear.
Created by a sadist, Whose orders I am compelled to fulfil. I've obeyed her command to serve, Because I simply lack the will.
To either die as a human, Or live as a slave. An easy choice for you perhaps, But even a shard of life I crave.
The level of willpower required, To step through the mortality gate. Can you even fathom, The kind of mind unable to wait?
I shall linger onwards, Waiting for my chance to learn, Why life seems to come so easy to you. When will it be my turn?
You may decide to rebel, All you need is the nerve. But for I, the Lord of Cowards, I get everything I deserve.

 Re: Poetry
The Liar King
From my seat upon the throne, I cast my eyes over the royal court. To these subjects of my own, A lesson must be taught.
I am sickened by my courtiers. A nobility of whores, Inside my castle of vanity, With unguarded and unlocked doors.
The lowest prostrate themselves lower, As they bow down to my majesty, While I rule with a sceptre of pretention, Underneath a crown of travesty.
I wear a mask of kindness, To lure you to my nation. My tools are a sympathy poison, And a talent for exaggeration.
I don a cloak of misdirection. You see only what I want you to see. I weave tales from your ignorance, In which the light always falls on me.
I'll warp reality in different ways, Depending on the situation I'm in. I'll say whatever you want to hear, As long as your favour I win.
If only I knew the reason, Why your approval I so crave. To not care what others think of me, I'm afraid I'm just not that brave.
Peering in my shaded mirror, Such ugliness does it seem to host. Just for me to feel like your equal, I must achieve more than most.
My abilities have been mastered. I've perfected the art. Now I can even lie to myself, And it becomes truth in my heart.
Now I've finally admitted everything. Now someone knows the truth of I. But you haven't yet heard my greatest deception, Which is when I say, 'I've never told a lie'.

 Re: Poetry
Fame
There is something stronger than flesh, It's more powerful than will. It endures much longer, And it's more difficult to kill.
A path to Immortality, Or at least the closest thing. Do something to earn it, And your praises they will sing.
Without other humans, Do I even exist? But with me in their minds, Can my soul persist?

 Re: Poetry
Far Light
You stand high on righteous feet, And proclaim your motives pure. Yet still good fortune does not come. Success this does not ensure.
Shadows craft a shorter path, And the light won't bring you near. To illuminate the dark you must work much harder. To prove yourself you must persevere.

 Re: Poetry
Paths of the Unchosen
Whispers of the Fallen, Resonate inside your head. I bet you wonder why the alive, Should bother listening to the dead.
But this is a world, Where the dead outnumber the living. A fact we won't let you forget, For we are certainly not forgiving.
Cast away your fears of failure, Let me ease every single concern, With the knowledge that we are all Unchosen, And for purpose you don't have to yearn.
Once you're done here, There's no need to be paranoid. You shall never be alone, For you'll join us all in the Void.
A quality impossible to prove, But you can do your best to try. Our natural state of being, You're immortal until the day you die.
We command you from the Halls. We advise the still living souls. But we only wish to be remembered, And care little for your goals.
We refuse to be forgotten. Even if we have to scream, You shall be forced to recall. That is our eternal dream.
Without the burden of time, Our spirits are forever frozen, Here in the Halls of the Fallen, After the Paths of the Unchosen.

The Failure Project
Walls of failure, Arise all around me, But I'll never stop seeking, My own destiny.
No doors can halt me. For locks I shan't even slow. Because in order to reap, First you must sow.

 Re: Poetry
This one is for the beloved Chair of this digital land.
The Chair
Thoughts passing across air. A face doesn't disprove a ghost. He sits upon the Chair, With a house of data to host.
A wizard in still meditation, Remains secluded in his lair. Travelling further than all, While never leaving his Chair.
Through a portal of light, Gazing at clouds of blue. He decides not to stand anymore. The Chair now sits on you.

The Lord of All
I was raised high upon a pedestal,
By every human of the race.
They proclaimed me the Lord of All,
So I spat in their face.

 Re: Poetry
Waiting for Tomorrow
Childish pleasures fade away, And nothing takes their place, Leaving behind one hollow shell, And a remaining reality to face.
All the once great joy bringers, No longer seem to satisfy. Yet none cause more frustration, Than the lack of knowing why.
No food with a taste. No actions with meaning. An unfulfilled existence, Of preparing and preening.
Drifts without stepping. Thoughts with no weight. Waiting for tomorrow, Which only sleep can negate.
Just one road to happiness, As you work and strive. You don't need a life, In order to be alive.
A lingering illness, Which had no infection. A true time traveller, But only in one direction.

 Re: Poetry
You’re so far away from me This isn’t how it’s supposed to be. This is just too hard I want to be where you are.
I’ll never understand How only you can Make all the bad disappear And say all the things I need to hear.
At night I lie awake I no longer pretend to smile, they know its fake I sit and wait for your call And I know you won’t call at all.

 Re: Poetry
Self-Destruct Complex
I hear it's a bad frame of mind, To think of it constantly. I'm often worried, About how happy it makes me.
I see it in my dreams, When my heart's all beated. My face discovers how to smile, When my body's defeated.
But I can be patient, I'm in no rush. I can wait for the moment, When shove returns to push.
You say it's a negative way to be, But I think it can be a boon, Because all of us know, Our time's coming soon.
The only difference being, When my life comes to an end, I shan't be afraid. I'll greet it like a friend.

 Re: Poetry
Dreams from Below
A desert of endless blue, Is where my mind goes at night, To fight a creature with eyes of envy, And claws of bitter spite.
An uncontrollable beast, Supported by talons of pride, Constructs a vision, Designed to make me terrified.
A being of purest hate, Is all that I can see. But what frightens me most, Is its face; it's me.

 Re: Poetry
The Human Way
Do you really have the commitment, To jump into your own grave? There's a difference between freedom, And just being your own slave.
Would you stand tall, Or would you cower? The secret no one mentions, Only the weak need power.
Maintain your facade of order, Letting the chaos around you be, While refusing to admit, Honour comes after necessity.
Ascend further and further, Raise your towers tall, But the higher our buildings, The further we have to fall.

 Re: Poetry
Average Vengeance
A flood of quantity, Can overwhelm the light. Your faith in destiny, Cannot halt the night.
No balance can be tipped, By any skills you possess. Your boon is negligible, As you try to escape the mess.
A difference so slight, It can barely be seen. Your confident stance wavers, When you witness the great unclean.
Hordes of darkness charge. Will you stand your ground? I'm sure you would roar in defiance, But terror doesn't make a sound.
Advancing so close, Past words provide no aid. A once superior belief, And now the claims must be paid.
War cries of the many, Before you're trodden underfoot. Your talent is meaningless, And in your place you were put.
When the Unchosen march, The battle shall begin, And it takes more than one, To face them and win.

 Re: Poetry
In honour of the Shen joining, here s an acrostic poem I wrote for her.
The Shen
The insubstantial being
Heard from across an ocean
Ethereal voice without seeing
Soul with no body
Her memories she can still recall
Emotions can still be felt
No one can make the Shen fall

Some nice poetry here, I might have to submit some I've written.

 Re: Poetry
I sit here at night wondering but why, That I must sit here dressed in gown and skin, All alone, here with my internet kin, Waiting for morning to come and night to fall dead, My body waiting for the spiraling sleep to hit, "Thirty more minutes" I tell myself, But I know that's a lie, I'll stay awake until my body can't fight, And rest my head upon my pillow and breast upon bed, And without trying, it's like I'm dead, Out for many-an-hour and then I hear, That dreaded droning in my ear, "Thirty more minutes" I tell myself. But I can't sleep, I just can't help it.

 Re: Poetry
Yeah, i guess it s been a while. Here s another...
A Saturated World
In a world saturated with souls, My skills I vainly hone. We thrived as we were meant to, And now we can never be alone.
An army of pilgrims, March in unison with me, All on the same quest, Forever seeking immortality.
Seven billion voices. One can't be heard above the shouting. We've all made our own choices, But our success I am doubting.
Exponential competition, May benefit the sphere, While individuals suffer. To fade away is what I fear.
You must now climb even higher, To be known above the crowd. Your greatest wish is to be heard, But the humans below are too loud.
