I'm pretty sure it was a google search of "hikikomori discussion" to see what people have to say on the matter. I first went to some thread about hikikomori where all the posters were saying things like "All hikikomoris are just lazy." So I left there and went to the next site which was this one!

One of my friends uses this site a lot so I figured I would give it a shot

I followed Chair's sig file at SA UK (Social Anxiety UK). I really identify more as being SA than reclusive, even though I usually only leave the house once a week, I don't work and I get my groceries delivered from online. However I am interesting in learning more about the hiki phenomenon and feel sympathetic towards those having to deal with it.

I googled: 'Hikikomori dating site'.
Not the most flattering thing to admit, but it's true. This was one of the links.
Maybe I'll hook up with some fine basement dwelling mans . . . you never know.

My favorite novel, manga, and anime(i own all of them -_-') is Welcome to the NHK. It suddenly just hit me one day to google for any hikikomori forums. So here I am

i learned about the concept of hikikomori by playing a game known as 'yume nikki', and i googled around, eventually finding my way here.

I've been aware of the term hikikomori for several years, however it was the buildup of despair that acted as a catalyst which sent me searching for similar people to talk to.
Needless to say the search was very short lived as this board sat right at the top of googles results.

After watching "Welcome to NHK" I lurked a lot in Wikipedia and Google with the word "hikikomori" (in Russian and English) to read some articles of this topic. That led me to english Wikipedia where the link was.

I had been looking for a forum for reclusive people for some time and upon searching "hikikomori forum" good old Google led me here.
