I am pretty sure that the emoticons we have now suit us and have more than enough emoticons. If you feel there isn't enough, you can always make your own. (´∀`)

I'm not nearly as computer savvy as most. Surfing the web and typing in text is about the extent of my computer knowledge. Anyway it was just a suggestion and not really necessary.

I want to suggest that we should have a "Like" button, in that way we can show someone that we like their post without having to reply every time (specially if you just want to says sometime like "I like it :thumbsup " and that's it... lol )

but only the Like, so trolls can't go hurting other people feelings lol

I have seen this in other forums and I think is very useful, apart from that HC is freaking perfect :pirate :thumbsup
(thanks to all the people who make this site possible, you are awesome..)

We should think about wrapping up a few donations so we can get a server. That way other phpBB add-ons can be easily implemented.

I've thought about that, but I don't know how to go about donations.

If you figure out how much servers cost per whatever time period, then there's a goal set. Then you could either have a paypal doination button at the bottom of the index with its respective counter and goal.

Post Re: Site suggestions?
do the admins have control over the phpbb "MODs" that the site uses? (LMGTFY, etc.) if so, are they picked from a list, or are they installed by hand? i don't want to make suggestions if they're not possible, anyway....

EDIT:
should've read the last messages. this seems like a good idea. given that the site usage is pretty low (i mean, comparatively), getting a cheap desktop, a big harddrive, and either a static IP or dynamic DNS might be cheaper that renting server space. quasar has mentioned setting something up (for himself, not the site).

it's hard to beat free, tho. there used to be free web hosting sites... not sure if they'd have enough storage for an entire bulletin board platform + archived messages.

that's another thing: would/could the current host allow an admin to mirror the site?

either way it's a hassle. it is very, very difficult to convince people to change the way they use software for marginal improvements. i support it, but even if the donations thing were necessary and possible, i doubt it would happen.

Is this option a permanent look of the site?

Can we add these to the smiley roster? I think having smiles that aren't so ^_^ would be nice.

Could we get some more styles installed (preferably dark ones). No offense, but this style is just kind of ugly.

What do you find ugly about it? It's its lack of color, right?

It's far better than most of the other pre-installed themes on here and is one of the only themes that looks somewhat professional.

I myself quite like dark themes, but I've noticed that most people tend to prefer lighter themes. But there are no truly good pre-installed dark themes on here, unfortunately.

I might choose a few themes for people to choose from. I'll warn you though: Most of the pre-installed themes on here are tacky.

No, no. I mean if those could be added in addition to the ones we have. I modified the laughing one to make it seem like it's actually laughing, as opposed to just creepily smiling. And the other ones are more standard smileys.

AcidTech is a pretty good style. It doesn't look quite as professional as this one, but the dark style of it looks good.

I like that idea. Makes it easier to capture the nuances ;)

I'll think about adding them.

Question: Where did you find them? They aren't on David Lanham's site. He's the guy who made the Riceball smileys that we use here on HC.

Oh yeah, I mixed and matched different parts of the riceballs in GraphicsGale.
