Here's some controversial cricket:

and a music video about a famous cricketer ("Bradman" by Paul Kelly):

It's one of my favourite things. Right up there with watching paint dry. My brother loves it though, he's going to see some sort of big match this summer.

I dislike cricket. Aussie rules or soccer for me, nothing else cuts it.

Re: What do you think of the cricket?
Wow, I had forgotten about this thread! Yeah, these days, it's all about AFL or NRL. I'm an AFL (Aussie rules) person because I lived in Melbourne originally. (The guys like to say it's because I'm a girl, but I think the "lived in Melbourne" explanation makes more sense.) During the past couple of weeks I've been lucky enough to go to 2 games: Newtown Jets (rugby league) and Sydney Swans (Aussie rules). A Newtown Jets game is nice as a community event, but I found the Swans game more entertaining even though they lagged by at least 20 points the whole time. My team has recently been making headlines by taking action to accurately represent some of the traditions of the local community: Go Saints!

Re: What do you think of the cricket?
Yeah Melbourne is definitely home of the AFL, Sydney is more NRL. My team (Essendon Bombers) had a win recently can't remember the last time that happened By getting a 16 year old schoolgirl pregnant?joking, I'm actually not sure what you mean?? In any case, AFL is better than rugby union

Re: What do you think of the cricket?
Ah, my ex is from Essendon. He barracks for North, but his family and the people he grew up with are mostly Essendon fans. Yeah, I was referring to the 3 players who got in on with a high school girl and got her pregnant. I was making a joke about St Kilda in general, quite possibly in poor taste. You see, I used to live in St Kilda. In addition to other things, it's sort of like a retirement community for musicians. And some of the "local legends" that I knew from the music scene had a preference for really young girls (even high school age). One of the more famous ones got a young girl pregnant not long before he died. And the older, more legendary (by various definitions) musicians are sort of like the mascots of St Kilda - part of what makes it still an interesting place to live even though it's getting gentrified. So it's like the young AFL players were taking a cue from some of the better-known musicians in the area they represent. Maybe you have to be a muso or have spent time around the music scene in St Kilda to get the joke . . . And I acknowledge that it's a serious subject that might not be worth joking about (I'm prone to controversial joking). So I'm sorry if I was being offensive. Yes indeed!

Boring, tedious sport. Don't matches last for a couple of days? Ridiculous.
