The most awesome Green Day with Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. Cool video (esp in HQ) and great lyrics... | | | | Quote: I walk a lonely road The only one that I have ever known Don't know where it goes But it's home to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams Where the city sleeps and I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone I walk alone I walk alone I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me 'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah
I'm walking down the line That divides me somewhere in my mind On the border line Of the edge and where I walk alone
Read between the lines What's fucked up and everything's alright Check my vital signs To know I'm still alive and I walk alone
I walk alone I walk alone I walk alone I walk a...
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me 'Til then I walk alone
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah Ah-ah, Ah-ah
I walk alone I walk a...

Ion Dissonance - Oceanic Motion | | | | Quote: All around, back & forth, The sickening smell of insignificance I'm used to it now, I must reek of it
The densitiy of the air was tangible today, It was way too heavy for me. I woke up an hour earlier, I am eager to amaze myself for all the things that I could do, But most definetly won't, during this loose hour.
Another day, predictably mundane, Another scratch on the 7" ep that is my life,
That is my life... It keeps on bouncing! (all around, back & forth)
My Columbian coffee Expensively tasted like sewer water today. The "normal & subtle" sour taste could'nt be sweetened at all, no matter how I sugared it, How many times have I wondered if this taste wasn't impregnated in my mouth?
And once again (and as always), I'm having a delightful conversation With the refrigirator by my side. He's always complaining, I'm use to his points of view now, his constant mumbling... Drastically sarcastic, almost as bitter as my coffee. He seems to have an opinion about everything.
An instant passed, then I remembered that I have an optic sense
Ah, there it is, my 4th floor morning-view of a sunlit backalley
Down there, an ant-like human is wandering, Nervously looking around, back & forth And once the tension is gone, as he's sure that nobody's there, Unzips his pants and ungraciously exposes himself In order to piss his way through my alley...
I am almost has relieved as he is, once he's finished, But for obvious different reasons
Happily confined, thoroughly hollow and unfulfilled I think I'll go back to sleep
Is it possible to be sea-sick on firm ground?

Suicidal Tendencies - Alone (1990)
I scream at the sky, it's easier than crying I'm shyest when I'm shouting out loud I feel so alone in a room full of people I'm loneliest when I'm in a crowd I'm alone, and nobody hears me Can't nobody heal me, won't somebody help me I'm alone, I just need Someone to take my hand and pick me up when I'm feeling down Someone to take my heart and give it a home Someone to be with me and help me through the times when I'm down and lonely Someone to be with me when I'm alone I'm alone, all alone Alone is the way I live, it's not the way I want it but you know You can't give in, alone is the way I feel, it's so hard to understand Why I've got to be alone
If you look in my heart you'd see it I'm trying to be something better If you look in my heart you'd feel it I've got to keep moving on If you look in my heart you'd know it I'm just trying to make my world better If you look in my heart you'd see it I got to do it alone
I've been down, I've been down I've been down, down, down so low I've been lost, so lost with no place left to go I've had emotions, emotions that you better hope you never know Sometimes it feels like I just can't take no more
If you look in my heart you'd see it I'm trying to be something better If you look in my heart you'd feel it I've got to keep moving on If you look in my heart you'd know it I'm just trying to make my world better If you look in my heart you'd see it I got to do it alone
Seems like things just keep getting further out of hand Why can't for once things just go as I plan How dare you, how dare you tell me that you understand Let me tell you straight out, there ain't nobody here that can I'm all alone, I'm so alone, to be alone, just leave me alone
If you look in my heart you'll see it If you look in my heart you'd feel it If you look in my heart you'd know it I'm not trying to make no one bitter I'm just alone, leave me alone, alone alone, now leave me
I've lived in places that you wouldn't never ever want to be Places where for a minute you couldn't ever stand to be I've seen things, I've seen things you'd never want to see SO what gives, what gives you the right to be the judge of me I'm all alone, I'm so alone, to be alone, just leave me alone
A room full of people, can't nobody help me, I'm alone I just need someone to take my hand and pick me up when I'm Feeling down, when I'm down Someone to take my heart and give it a home, when I'm down Someone to be with me and help me through the times I'm down and lonely, when I'm down Someone to be with me when I'm alone I'm alone, all alone Alone is the way I live, it's not the way I want it but I Know I can't give in Alone is the way I feel, there ain't nothing quite as sad as A person that's alone

Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
I think it has a beautiful lyric and psychedlic inclination and it describes the sensation of depression from being lonely well for me.
X Japan - Art of Life
All of the text is pretty much my feeling about life too.

People from down under may see the humor in this, but, hey, the lyrics are arguably about becoming a hikikomori!

Joy Division - Isolation In fear every day, every evening He calls her aloud from above Carefully watched for a reason Painstaking devotion and love Surrendered to self preservation From others who care for themselves A blindness that touches perfection But hurts just like anything else Isolation, Isolation, Isolation Mother, I tried, please believe me I'm doing the best that I can I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through I'm ashamed of the person I am Isolation, Isolation, Isolation But if you could just see the beauty These things I could never describe These pleasures a wayward distraction This is my one broken prize Isolation, Isolation, Isolation

Elliott Smith -- No Name #5
Got bitten fingernails and a head full of the past And everybody's gone at last A sweet, sweet smile that's fading fast Because everybody's gone at last And you don't get upset about it No, not anymore There's nothing wrong That wasn't wrong before Had a second alone with a chance let pass And everybody's gone at last Well, I hope you're not waiting Waiting around for me Because I'm not going anywhere Obviously Got a broken heart and your name on my cast And everybody's gone at last Everybody's gone at last

Re: hikikomorish songs
Shyness is nice, but shyness can stop you From doing all the things in life that you'd like to So, if there's something you'd like to try If there's something you'd like to try Ask me, I won't say no (how could I?) Coyness is nice, but coyness can stop you From saying all the things in life you'd like to So, if there's something you'd like to try If there's something you'd like to try Ask me, I won't say no (how could I?) Spending warm summer days indoors Writing frightening verse To a buck-toothed girl in Luxembourg Ask me, ask me, ask me Ask me, ask me, ask me Because if it's not love, then it's the bomb That will bring us together Nature is a language, can't you read? Nature is a language, can't you read? So ask me, ask me, ask me Ask me, ask me, ask me Because if it's not love, then it's the bomb That will bring us together... I much prefer this to the album version. I remember someone on this site referring to this song as a sort of "Hiki anthem"

Re: hikikomorish songs
Nice topic. Lots of parts in the Porcupine tree album 'Fear of a blank planet' are 'hikikomorish', especially the first four songs. I guess I'll pick one of them, the other songs are thematically similar. Found my favorite of the four here, starts after 60 seconds: http://www.break.com/usercontent/2009/5 ... 21644.htmlMy ashes: All the things that I needed I wasted my chances I have found myself wanting When a mother and father Gave me their problems I accepted them all Nothing ever expected I was rejected But I came back for more And my ashes drift beneath the silver sky Where a boy rides on a bike and never smiles And my ashes fall over all the things we've said On a box of photographs under the bed I will stay in my own world Under the covers I will feel safe inside The kiss that will burn me Cure me of dreaming I was always returning And my ashes find a way beyond the fog And return to save the child that I forgot And my ashes fade among the things unseen And a dream plays in reverse on piano keys And my ashes drop upon a park in Wales Never-ending clouds of rain, and distant sails... distant sails

Re: hikikomorish songs
Hah, that's probably my favourite Porcupine Tree album and i'd never even made the connection before Maybe reclusiveness has a sound (lyrics aside) that's portrayed through these kind of things? Who knows.

Re: hikikomorish songs
Supertramp - Hide In Your Shell
| | | | Quote: Hide in your shell cos the world is out to bleed you for a ride What will you gain making your life a little longer? Heaven or Hell, was the journey cold that gave your eyes of steel? Shelter behind painting your mind and playing joker
Too Frightening to listen to a stranger Too Beautiful to put your pride in danger You're waiting for someone to understand you But you've got demons in your closet And you're screaming out to stop it Saying life's begun to cheat you Friends are out to beat you Grab on to what you scramble for
Don't let the tears linger on inside now Cos it's sure time you gained control If I can help you, if I can help you If I can help you, just let me know Well, let me show you the nearest signpost To get your heartback and on the road If I can help you, if I can help you If I can help you, just let me know.
All through the night as you like awake and hold yourself so tight What do you need, a second-hand-movie-star to tend you? I as a boy, I believed the saying the cure for pain was love How would it be if you could see the world through my eyes?
Too Frightening- the fire's getting colder Too Beautiful- to think you're getting older You're looking for someone to give an answer. But what you see is just an illusion You're surrounded by confusion Saying life's begun to cheat you Friends are out to beat you Grab on to what you can scramble for Don't let teh tears... ... just let me know I wanna know... I wanna know you... Well let me know you I wanna feel you I wanna touch you Please let me near you Can you hear what I'm saying? Well I'm hoping, I'm dreamin', I'm prayin' I know what you're thinkin' See what you're seein' Never ever let yourself go
Hold yourself down, hold yourself down Why d'ya hold yourself down? Why don't you listen, you can Trust me, There's a place I know the way to A place there is need to feel you Feel that you're alone Hear me I know exactly what you're feelin' cos all your troubles are whithin you please begin to see that I'm just bleeding to Love me, love you Loving is the way to Help me, help you - Why must we be so cool, oh so cool,? Oh, we're such damn fools...
Such a great song.

Re: hikikomorish songs
I'm surprised no one has posted Bad Apple!! yet. That has got to be one of the most hikikomorish songs I know. (Then again, almost all my sounds have no lyrics to begin with.) | | | | Quote: Even in the midst of flowing time, oppression spins round and round. I can't even see the heart that's leaving me, didn't you know? I can't even get myself to move, slipping through the cracks of time. I don't know anything about what's around me, I'm just me and no more.
Am I dreaming? Or seeing nothing? My words are useless even if I speak. I'm just tired of being sad, I should go on without feeling anything. Even if you give me the words I'm at a loss for, my heart just won't pay attention. If I can move, if everything changes, it will go dark.
Is there a future for someone like me? Will I still exist in a world like this? Is this painful? Is it sad? Not even knowing myself. I'm just tired even of walking, I don't even understand people. If someone like me can change, if I change, it will turn white.
Even in the midst of flowing time, oppression spins round and round.
Is there a future to come out of this useless time? Will I exist in a place like this? If I wanted to tell you what kind of person I am, the words I'd use would be "good for nothing." Will I exist in a place like this? Will I exist in a time like this? If someone like me can change, if I change, it will turn white.
Am I dreaming now? Or seeing nothing? My words are useless even if I speak. I'm just tired of being sad, I should go on without feeling anything. Even if you give me the words I'm at a loss for, my heart just won't pay attention. If I can move, if everything changes, it will all go dark.
If I move, if I move, everything will break, everything will break. If I grieve, if I grieve, will my heart be able to turn white?
I still know nothing about you, about me, about anything. If I can open my heavy eyelids, if I break everything, turn black!!
NOTE: Yeah, it's a japenese song and I posted english translations. No one hurt me. -cower-

Yes! Awesome song by an awesome band. Joy Division = pure genius. I have one that could relate to the thread.

Disappear Disappear Higher Higher Into the air Slowly disappear No, no longer here
Disappear Disappear Thinner, thinner Into the air
Never really here What that never
Like a thought brushing up against a...sigh
Floating away Floating away
Vanishing like a sigh and slowly Disappear Disappear Vanish, vanish into the air Slowly disappear Never really here

Re: Hikikomorish songs
Almost every Smiths song could be posted in here.
The vocalist pretty much was a hikikomori for a few years before starting the Smiths. Lots of their songs deal with isolation/shyness/loneliness.
