I usually turn the lights off at night and avoid windows out of fear of snipers (I'm serious btw).

When I go to the bathroom at night after having woken up from a deep sleep I'm scared of my own reflection because I look so evil.

I believe that any weird acting forum member who ever took some interest in me someway is a troll.

Same. When l'm most paranoid and depressed, l shut out all light so that l am surrounded in darkness and unable to see what l don't want to see.

When l go outside, every person walking past me seems like a familiar face. l get so scared of seeing anyone l know because l feel they may antagonize me and hate me and disown me as their friend. lf l actually do encounter a friend/acquittance, l freeze up and cannot speak properly. l also feel that everyone around me hates me and wishes for my ill health. When l am outside, l feel everyone is out to get me. This is at my worst state though.

I'm paranoid of a lot of things and it destroys relations with people. I always question what they meant by what they said or why did they choose those words. My head decides what tone other people are using online or what the tone of real life conversations mean. I'm often paranoid friends talk about me as I'm some sort of joke..uh.."character".

Very. I was brought up by parents who panic very easily. I often think something really bad is going to happen to me, or that my close ones will leave me.

I have trouble falling asleep if I'm alone and don't have a dog or a gun right beside me. I've lived in some violent places and seen some fucked up stuff, so it makes sense to me, though it may seem weird to some other people.

I intentionally err on the side of paranoia. I take plenty of risks, but I'm always thinking about what could go wrong.

Post Re: Are you paranoid?
There have been a lot of skimming frauds here lately, so I am very wary when I use ATMs or pay with card. Also very aware of anyone standing too close to me.
Plus sometimes scary things happen. we live in a flat in 4th floor, and that my mother works night shifts. It was morning, somewhere between 07 and 07:30. I had just woken up when I clearly heard the door knob being pressed slowly down. There is no mistaking that sound. I assumed it was my mother who came home from work. I waited but nothing happened. Sometimes the lock can be tricky, so I wondered if she didn’t get in. I got up and went into the hallway. My dog stood by the front door, eyeing it stiffly. He was waiting, too. I looked out the peep hole, but whoever had been there had gone. I have no idea who it was. But I was thoroughly freaked even though nothing really happened. I was very glad my dog was there.
Quote:
People looking at me on the bus/train/etc.

This makes me feel very uncomfortable, but depending on their over all reaction I don't necessarily think they take an interest in me in any way. Brats stare, point, gigle and/or shout obscenities. Not all of course, but enough to alwaya make me dread passing kids and teens. I have a tendency to awaken the worst in some without trying. Twice I was helped by my dog. He wasn’t even trying.
The first time was a summer afternoon when he and I were on a rug outside the building. Two guys about 20 came up the road behind us. I heard them stop, whispering and giggling. I already knew what to expect at that time. And sure enough, they approached me and began to ask questions, all the time trying to worm themselves closer, giggling like idiots. They didn’t threaten me but any female will understand how intimidating that kind of behaviour is. My dog was very friendly so he walked towards them. They backed off and I let him remain between us. This was in July so not many were home. It was very icky. And though they were backing off from my dog they didn’t quit bugging me.
Later, an evening in the autumn, I was walking him by our block. I was standing beside the block and he was sniffing between some trees when 2 guys (not the same as above) came up the same road. One of them pushed the other, pointed at me and whispered something. They both giggled and started to walk towards me rather than following the road past me. At the same time my dog returned to me and they stopped short and backed off, mumbling something about "we do that tomorrow."
Fucking assholes and fucking assholitry

What is dog spelled backwards?!

No, I'm not paranoid, but over 20 years of bad experience has taught me that there are a lot of assholes in this world and they have a tendecy to find me if they're in the area.
It doesn't add to my reclusiveness. I had that one from birth. Always been my preference, even before anything bad happened.
But it adds to me feeling less safe when out

1) People looking at me on the bus / train / etc.

2) People walking in the same direction as me on a non-crowded street (typically less than 3 people over a few meters).

3) Just about any error message / unexpected log on a computer, especially network related.

4) The phone ringing (especially if there's no-one on the other end of the line, or it stops ringing before i answer it).

5) Power outages. Especially when the light in the exclusive area for several hours. You do not have to take things during this time, especially if the silence, no one at home.

6) People I know doing anything out of character. I hate these things.

7) I'm afraid sometimes to a network wall outlet plug stuff. I used to steam times hit by electric shock accident, not by accident. Especially when I am afraid a little bit wet (or wet hands) or portable ryzetka is falling apart, beaten, it is desirable to throw in the trash. I fear an electric current.

I keep 'thinking' a lot over the silliest of observations. Being a bit paranoid makes me careful which I'm fine with.
But sometimes, my paranoia can make me appear creepy. . .even to myself.

I really don't know. I do sometimes wonder if some of the thoughts I have are paranoid. But isn't that what paranoia is? These thoughts seem real to me, how do I know if I'm wrong? Paranoia suggests your perception of things doesn't match the facts, that you're somehow exaggerating and not looking at things objectively. But reality is always subjective and you can never really know for certain.

Post Re: Are you paranoid?
Somehow missed this thread. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but since starting anti-depressants, I've been experiencing random bouts of extreme paranoia. I believe that when I'm in public people are staring at me and judging me and only me. Sometimes the thought just enters my head that people (no-one in particular) are wishing me dead. I'm generally suspicious of people's motives and struggle immensely with trust. Something I'm finding very difficult to deal with is that no-one genuinely likes me. All my friends are faking it, and continue to maintain contact because they don't know how to break the news that they really wouldn't care if we never spoke again.

If I'm around people for too long then yes. Or if I do something possibly dangerous I will tend to overestimate the negative consequences and that will make me paranoid for a while. I get cautious if people are walking behind me and stop or slow down to let them overtake me. I get anxious when I hear the doorbell ring or if I get a call or text message. If I hear people whispering or laughing or see them smiling I get worried, but I tell myself I'm just being paranoid and even if they were talking about me, it's all nonsense anyway. But when I'm alone, I'm fine. And I find your avatar sad Labrat.

Sometimes. I used to be A LOT, but it's gone now. Last month, I had a period of being paranoid for about a week or so and it was horrible. Makes you feel like you're going crazy. That was the same time that I was getting nightmares again and I woke up not being able to trust people and kept jumping and shadows in the corner of my eye. Must've been the stress of uni.

when my boss don't call me to give me a job, I think he's dead, or he fired me and he's so mad that he don't want to call me.

I really don't trust people who have high numbers of internet communicators - that mean for me, that they made temporaly number for chatting with me and they don't want me to know the real number.

I'm always afraid that my boyfriend will cheat on me - it's not being jealous. I'm afraid he will cheat on me, beacuse I'm not too smart to see everything.

when my family call to me I'm afraid something happened. If there is a silence - I'm afraid - something happenend.

Yes, especially when I'm outside and I see people looking at me. And sometimes I think my neighbours think I'm a freak and that they want me to go live somewhere else. Or when I hear strange sounds at night I think someone's breaking into my house or that someone's hiding in the dark, waiting to attack me. It gets worse when I'm stressed/tired.

and also about high numbers of communicators - people who have high numbers are really not worth to trust them - beacuse probably they had to change their numbers - beacuse what?! - I don't know, but there must be some reasons.
