Post Do you talk to yourself or to inanimate objects?
How often do you talk to yourself or to inanimate objects while in seclusion? Or may be you have an imaginary friend? Do you sing or talk nonsenses alone?

In my case, I use to talk to myself. From time to time I also talk to my manekineko, it's weird but it looks like it changes its face depending on light reflection. So, I often say to it: "Hey, why are you angry today?" or: "Why do you look so proud?". I also sing repetitive nonsenses and my brother gets angry and tells me that I seem to be reciting a mantra. I think it's just an idiotic song to make them believe that I'm still here, and that I'm happy indeed.

I talk to myself all the time, & I talk to the characters on television & singers when they say or do something stupid.

I'd like to think everyone has the occasional in-head conversation about something they're doing or thinking or whatever... my 'head-voice' just happens to have a Yorkshire accent xD

And i've always loved the few times i've been alone with a friend's pet, i feel i can just talk out loud without feeling silly then. Not had one since i was a baby, and i know they're not inanimate, but dogs/cats don't talk back, so i feel they fit in somewhat :)

Stuffed animals, for sure. Mine has been with me since I was a toddler, except it has the amazing power of reincarnation. Currently, incarnations 3 and 4 are co-existing. Otherwise, I frequently talk to animals, and misbehaving equipment. The former sometimes seem to talk back, the latter never.

Haha, I do this too. I love talking to animals. When I talk to my dog, she tilts her head and her ears go straight up in the air. She always wants to hear what I have to say. Sometimes she tries to talk back too.

I talk to myself every now and then. It tends to be bad things or put downs though. If I do something wrong or bad, and no one is around, I'll tell myself how stupid I am. Besides being a Negative Nancy, I don't really talk to inanimate objects.

The only 'thing' I talk to is my own conscience while talking to it in my own mind.

When I was small I talked to Mario from Super Mario 64 while I was playing it ... yes I always was a bit brain damaged.
It was a time when I wanted friends but I couldn't find them in the real world, so I talked to my video game "heroes", I also had a digimon plushie ( cant remember the digimon) and I really loved it so much, I also talked to my plushies, I had like 20 or so.

Yea I talk to myself all the time, I usually say the opposite of what I'm usually thinking, I weigh my pros and cons by talking to this made up 'imaginary friend'.

Yea. There's no limit to who or what I talk to.
Being always alone, talking to myself is common.
Also talking to my cat, and talking to items, things, cuddlytoys, etc..
but rather rarely and in a jokingly manner or not quite seriously.
They never answer me, too.

All the time, I make up imaginary conversations, in which I speak aloud to myself. Sometime I do different accents, or I try to anyway.

If i lived alone or i'm in the house alone i do, but otherwise i feel too self concious about it. So i might just argue with myself in my head instead.

I usually just mull things over in my own head. Sometimes I break into full blown conversations with myself. Just one of the ways that I stay sane. No one else ever wants to hear what I have to say. So I'm my own audience.

Depends on what you mean by "talking to yourself". Of course I have the usual internal monologue like everyone else. Beside that though, I do talk to myself a lot. Not in the "crazy" way though. Like there are no imaginary people or voices that aren't my own, and no talking to inanimate objects or animals. It's more like I'm daydreaming and having made up conversations with people that I know in real life. Sometimes I get carried away with it though and start talking out loud. Seems like that is happening more often lately, sometimes when I don't even realize it. That could be a problem, it would be embarrassing if someone overheard/saw me, heh. I guess being stuck in my house all day drives me to create my own pretend social interaction, how sad, hahah.

I do this often, but there is no imaginary friend. It is usually my mind vs my mind trying to figure something out, and I use dialogue in two different sounding voices. Weird!

I do this a lot too... Usually if I get a rare chance to be alone, I'll use my actual talking voice for my pretend conversations. Otherwise, I'll mostly keep it in my head. Sometimes I start whispering to myself without noticing though. It would be really embarrassing if someone saw me too. :)

So talking to oneself is a common practice, I do that myself too.

But any of you never thought about imaginary friend? I never had one or two myself but I wish I had, just like in beautiful mind.

I've been also thinking about multiple personality disorder, that could work as fine as imaginary friend.
