 Re: Did you like school?
Yup, me too. And it wasn't just being around other (horrible) people, it was the school system, the terror, the stress, the 5 hrs of homework/day starting with the 1st grade, the lack of logic, the horrible teachers (in teaching quality and the kind of people they were like)...
I think it really, really fucked up my thinking to the point where I get anxious just reading stuff on the internet, anything... I can't process things normally because I've forgotten how to do it my way, naturally.

Hated it. With a passion.
Part of me wishes i could do it again though, just to give the teachers so much shit on all the occasions I missed when they were bang out of order.

 Re: Did you like school?
The only thing I liked about school was seeing my handful of friends each day. The rest was pointless torture.

Well, seeing how I just quit school, I guess you could say it's not really my favourite place to be. Hopefully it won't be just as terrible when I try again.

This. I would so love to start over and give every single one of my teachers (and classmates) hell, with complete confidence this time, subtly, and in a way that they wouldn't be able to touch me or blame me.

 Re: Did you like school?
I did have classes I liked but the rest I usually avoid them like a plague. So it's a mix for me, I hated so much from school but I also liked what I learn from one or two of those classes, I'd often skip the entire day and hide, but I would attend those 2 classes I enjoy.

I hated it, I was an outcast there, in university too and now that I tried to study again in another country it's the same shit.

 Re: Did you like school?
i hated school. i hated being forced to socialize with people i didnt like. i failed 4th grade, dropped out of 7th grade, and dropped out of college. im back in school though because i hate having crappy jobs. id like to be a scientist and just deal with viruses. i dont like dealing with people. and anyway, everyone expects scientists to be weird so maybe id fit in.

I liked school slightly more than one would like surgery without anesthesia.

 Re: Did you like school?
I didn't hate school. I was afraid of school. I skipped school a lot, making excuses that I was sick. I was afraid of people, even my friends. It didn't occur to me that that was social anxiety. Fast forward 10 years, I missed school. I wish I could go back and make things right.

 Re: Did you like school?
That could be said about me as well. I didn't necessarily hate the school-work - what I really hated was the anxiety I had to face on a day-to-day basis. I've always enjoyed learning about things. There were only a few subjects in school that I despised. I also wish that I could go back, but only if the anxiety wouldn't be present. The anxiety I felt at school was unbearable. I'd feel like throwing up all day, get horrible migraines and experience extremely painful chest pains everyday.

But what did we know, Chair. We were young and there was really nothing much we could do at that point.
Talking about subjects, I liked English the most. I hated Math at first but learned to like it. Math is challenging.

 Re: Did you like school?
Absolutely hated it. Started staying home for no reason (faked illness) when I was 10 years old, mostly because I thought it was boring and too crowded. It got progressively worse until it reached a point where I was a real hikki around the age of 15-16. Since then I've been doing better, but sometimes I just really need to get away from classes. And if I can't do that, it usually ends up with me staying inside for a month or two. Fortunately they allowed me to get my high school diploma despite missing many hours that I should have gone to.
Now that I'm in university I at least feel challenged by the subject matter (sometimes...), and for some reason most classes being not mandatory (except for some practical work) makes me more motivated to go then if they were mandatory. Classes are also smaller (most of the time) so I don't feel so chocked by the number of people present. I actually enjoy it sometimes (although I'm usually still somewhat reluctant to go).

 Re: Did you like school?
I hate school. I hate getting up at 5am and coming home at 4pm. I hate how teachers make it look like they care and how everyone puts on a fake personality. I don't get picked on, im rather liked among my school. I just dont like being outside of my room and my comfort zone plus people drive me insane because of my ocd. I go to my classes, do my homework and keep count how many more school days till summer. I think about how many more years of high school I have left and the crap I'll have to deal with.I've thought about giving up on school but I think that would just make me more depressed since everyone regrets it and it is a pretty stupid idea. Oh well suffering is a part of life

 Re: Did you like school?
Nope, though my last years of high school was okay. I had nothing but art classes and maybe one academic course. I spent a lot of time hiding in the art room's loft.

 Re: Did you like school?
For me, sometimes school was wonderful other times it was very depressing.
Wonderful because I did have friends (not now, at least not off the internet), there were nice teachers and we did fun things sometimes.
Depressing because of my Aspergers and people looking at me like I'm insane for just trying to start up a conversation. Stupid ass bullies, arrogant teachers that treat you like garbage.
So it was up and down for me.

 Re: Did you like school?
Saying you like school is like saying you enjoy going to the bathroom to take a shit. Both are nothing more than inevitable annoyances.

 Re: Did you like school?
The same for me. I hated school so much, from day 1 in first grade and onward. The only things I really enjoyed in school were writing stories and doing projects - alone, that is - on something that interested me. The rest was uninteresting or worse. I even disliked nursery.

 Re: Did you like school?
I enjoy my classes. I get really excited about them at the start of the semester. But when it comes to assignments with due dates, I tend to sort of freak out an procrastinate because I'm a perfectionist. I get so afraid that my work won't be good enough that it reaches the point where I don't even want to think about the assignment.
However, I've been a student for so long that I've learned to use this to my advantage. I work best under pressure. Spend weeks stressing about what I'm going to do with a particular assignment, and when it gets down to the wire, I stop thinking about it and simply try to beat the clock. But, probably because I've put so much (stress-ridden) thought into it before actually beginning the work, and because I do each assignment in a single burst of adrenaline-fueled energy, they seem to turn out well. Based on my GPA, that is.
In the end, I get a sense of accomplishment, and it's great when I get to make use of what I've learned. I just don't like the anxiety that comes from my own perfectionism and the "bad study habits" that result from it.
Maybe I take school too seriously? Is it possible to take school too seriously?

 Re: Did you like school?
I hated school... well, starting with 7th grade... 8th grade was awful, and I even had trouble with some rude girl saying really rude things like saying that I smelled bad, and I clearly did not...
I remember always hating that girl. she was rude and I wanted to smack her. I'm not even kidding. she was that way in the first year of high school, too, unless I'm getting confused... she didn't say anything to me, but she would just look at me in that way and I knew she was saying stuff about me... >__>
I remember this other rude girl, omg... she was even worse and she was friends with the other one!! >__<
I tried to ignore it, but I would get so mad...
school became so crappy for me because I lost all my friends and people just stopped caring about me because I was soooooooo weird, apparently. and then the rudeness I dealt with from 7th-9th grade...
it was awful, I was a total outcast and so many people made fun of me. I had several nice teachers and all that, but that didn't make up for students' rudeness/ignorance...

 Re: Did you like school?
This. When I was going, I hated it and couldn't wait for it to end... now that I have been done with it for several years, I kind of miss it. Life was so much simpler back then, though I could have done a lot to make it better. I wasn't popular or special in any way, but at least I had a purpose and was doing something that everyone else did. Can't say the same for myself now.
