 Re: Football (Soccer)
Ugh, I don't want to deal with Real Madrid in a group. And Tottenham? Well, why not, that could work. And Hapoel is fine. We've got such a young team now and there are rumors that two of our defenders Demichelis and Tymoshuk want to leave Bayern, so either they could be replaced with top players or with players from the youth. But for the beginning I don't want Bayern to deal with damn tough clubs. But yes, we'll see...

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Yay - the results! Group A: Internazionale, Werder Bremen, Tottenham Hotspurs, FC Twente Group B: Lyon, Benfica, Schalke 04, Hapoel Tel-Aviv Group C: Manchester United, Valencia, Rangers, Bursapor Group D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Copenhagen, Rubin Kazan Group E: Bayern Munich, Roma, Basel, Cluj Group F: Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, Žilina Group G: Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre Group H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga, Partizan Roma, Basel and Cluj are imo easy clubs to deal with. But of course - never underestimate the enemy!

I can see AC Milan crashing out in the group stages. They've had a terrible transfer window, and they won't stop ageing!

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Rangers have got Man U again, now we're going hear that "BATTLE OF BRITAIN" bullshit again. I think Rangers are going to finish third and drop into UEFA cup (or whatever it's called these days).
I think Tottenham could fancy their chances to qualify for the next stage, I don't see it as being a step too far for them. Chelsea and Arsenal should be fine too. Group G looks like where all the fun is.
Mikan's beloved Bayern should be quite comfortable as well, Roma seem like the only threat, so progress should be a given.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
I'm really worried Liverpool could find themselves left adrift if they don't finish in the top four this season. The result against Man City was shit, but having seen the game I thought the score flattered them, since they only had 3 shots on target to Liverpools 5. But there you go. I hope Dirk Kuyt doesn't go to Inter aswell, it looks certain that Mascherano is off to Barca, the squad is already looking really short on quality, I don't think we can afford to lose two more of our big players. I feel slightly bad for Roy Hodson. Online he's already getting criticism from fans after just 2 games, I worry for him if Liverpool don't start winning. The next two games are West Brom at home and Birmingham away so it's time to start getting results.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
At least with only 1 Champions League berth next season (due to their woeful coefficient), Scotland won't have to suffer the continual ignominy of having both their top teams perpetually crapped on by a bunch of farmers from Latvia.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
^ Now that's just mean. Strange, why are all the qualifiers on a Friday now? Lithuania 0 - 0 Scotland Fucks sake. Our group contains Spain and Czech Republic which makes it tough already to qualify, so to not win against a team like this makes the prospect all the more daunting. Had the majority of the possession, and were the more dominant team, but that doesn't mean anything. Better win our next one - it's Liechtenstein for crying out loud (Spain gave them a shafting). Let's see what other results there were:England 4 - 0 Bulgaria We won't dwell on that one. Belgium 0 – 1 Germany Mikan will be happy. France 0 – 1 BelarusWoah. And I thought our result was pretty rubbish. Portugal 4 – 4 Cyprus Cyprus?!? I don't know what was going on in this game, but I really wish I could have seen it.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Yes, Mikan is happy about the result but not about the match. Too many missed chances... arrrgh, but the Belgians were really tough. I hope we will do better against Azerbaijan. Toaster, it's a new FIFA rule that all matches will be on Friday/Tuesday schedule. Good for the clubs - then the players have 1 day more time for training when they return on Wednesdays.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
I didn't even watch the England game. I don't know why but I find international football boring. And as far as the result goes, I'm not surprised, England are quickly becoming a team which flatters to deceive, they'll probably start crushing all the shit teams in our group and raise everyones hopes that we might actually be able to win something, and then when it really matters we'll implode yet again.

Hmm, Champions League is on at the moment. Don't really want to watch it though. I can see Rangers being molested by Man U, unless Man U implode like they did against Everton last weekend. Highly doubt it.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Ferguson made ten changes to the team that played against Everton, basically putting out his second string, and Rooney. The only reasons I can think of for why he did this is 1: Liverpool are next in the league, 2: He REALLY doesn't rate Rangers very highly. Anyway it's 0-0 as it is, so, hahah, egg + his face.
I saw bits of the first half of the Tottenham game, I don't know how they managed to throw away their lead, they played Werder Breme off the park from what I saw.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Nice games today. Was really surprised about Bremen fighting back in the 2nd half time. Now I'm looking forward for tomorrow - Bayern vs Roma. I hope they'll do it better than in the Bundesliga like against Bremen last Saturday. Too many missed chances... *sigh* Also the top teams in the Bundesliga are all still struggeling, none of them at the table's top. Was to expect after WC with few time for preparations. Schalke is even at the bottom with 0 points. Was also expected with their many transfers.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Goodness. It ended 0-0. I was quite surprised at that, although the report I read described it as a pretty terrible game to watch. Felt sorry for Valencia though, hope he get's better soon. Wish I saw the Werder Breman-Tottenham game, that looked quite entertaining. I wish Bayern good luck, Mikan.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Glad you like the .gif, Mikan! Watched the Arsenal-Braga game yesterday. Arsenal were in top form, yet for all their pretty football I always get the impression that they will come undone or be very frustrated by a defensive team. Which clearly didn't happen yesterday. Found this quite humorous this morning.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool
Sprited fight back from Liverpool when it looked incredibly unlikely that we'd get anything from the game, but Manchester United don't give up easily. The league is not a pretty sight right now as a Liverpool fan. The next 5 games look a lot easier than the previous 5, but based off how we've been playing so far no game is a guaranteed win.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Finally! 2-1 for Bayern, well done. Not the best match but at least 3 points!
I wish our bad time would be over soon and I can see more goals. I'm kinda afraid of the next match against Dortmund who are quite great at the moment. I like them and they've got nice young players.
Though it's kinda amusing to look at the Bundesliga table and see the usually weak clubs are still at the top and the usually strong ones are middle-bottom area.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Liverpool 1-2 Blackpool
How depressing. It's funny to think of all the shit Rafa Benitez got last year, and yet we never had a result anywhere near as bad as that under him. It's Everton away next and I'm dreading it. Roy Hodson is a nice enough guy and all that, but the way the team is playing under him it could be a relegation fight this year if things carry on as they are.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Excuse the rather clichéd hyperbole, but the last 3 fixtures (Northampton, FC Utrecht & Blackpool) are genuinely amongst the worst I've seen a Liverpool side play since I began watching football. I only bought Blackpool's Charlie Adam for my FF team because I had sod all money left and needed to fill a midfield position with someone that'd get regular minutes... so it says a lot about Liverpool at the moment that I actually chose to put him in my FF starting line-up ahead of their trip to Anfield.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Scotland 2 - 3 Spain Makes me wonder why we had to play really defensive in the Czech Republic. Oh well. I wonder if I should write off our chances of qualifying now, or should I have done that at the beginning when the draw was made?

Glad that Liverpool managed to beat Blackburn. Even more pleasing was the performance, up to when we scored the second goal we actually looked like a good team again.
