 Re: Football (Soccer)
Okay, I'm taking it back. I wanted the Dutch to win. But after watching the game - no, their loss was deserved. But imho Spain didn't also deserve the win. It was a really dull game... I want the FIFA to accept this final as the 3rd place final and yesterday's game as the WC final!!!!!

 Re: Football (Soccer)
I'm only glad Spain won because they at least tried to play football, and not follow Holland's hack people strategy. Some of it was pretty bad in the first half. How they still had 11 players on the pitch in the first half was quite surprising. Not the greatest of finals, but I found it quite watchable. I agree that Uruguay/Germany was the better game. ...and now it's all over.

First day after WC - I might get abstinence symptoms soon, I'm too used to watch a game every day. Can't wait for the new season, only a month to go!

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Life does seem strangely empty now that the World Cup is over.
Anyway, I don't understand why the teams who came in 2nd and 3rd had to get so mournful about it. They should be glad they did so well. In the Olympics, winning a bronze or silver medal is considered a good thing. Why doesn't this apply to football as well?

 Re: Football (Soccer)
I think the further a team came - the more painful they will experience a loss. The German team, for example, did the whole tournament very well until they got kicked out by Spain because they didn't play the way they're supposed to do. I'm sure they'd like to fly home after the game but they had to take part in the loser's final for 3rd place again after 2006. Being the loser always hurts. The team and its country who supported them - especially if it's about the most popular sport on this world. No matter if you got the silver or bronze medals. You got them because you lost a 90+-minutes lasting match. Of course they'll get all over this sooner or later and appreciate the team's efforts. That's just normal. (In my opinion, it's hard to compare that with Olympics. There are three winners and a lot of losers. Most participants there are just starting with the same conditions. The ones who are faster/stronger/etc. will win and that's all.)

Nobody remembers the runner-up from 1930. But everyone knows Uruguay won it. History shits on the losers, no matter how good they were

Of course not. A friend gave me this link. (I only lurk around RedCafe to read reactions if Bayern has won against ManU in CL matches! )

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Joe Cole signs for Liverpool. Was not expecting that. Hopefully him signing will persuade Torres and Gerrard not to jump ship. I am a little dubious over whether he's still the player he was three or four years ago though, he is also injury prone which is a worry.

Shit. Found out Celtic beat Caley Thistle yesterday. Someone here will be happy. Hope Newcastle beat Man U on Monday...but I highly doubt it.

^ 1...0...0! 100 euros! That's so little for someone from Real Madrid I don't know how to comprehend that. Feel sorry for the guy if thats all they think he's worth. Good luck to Bayern, Mikan. I hope they do well. Make sure you knock out some English teams in the Champions League so I can be amused. Is it Munich or Leverkusen? (>.>)

Oh, Toaster, how dare you... it's of course Munich, CAPITAL CITY OF BAVARIA! (Leverkusen is Bayer - without N - remember this, boy! )

 Re: Football (Soccer)
Typical Liverpool, big new summer signing gets sent off, somehow get into the lead and look like they might possible win the game, and then in the last minute, implode. Could have used some good news today.

You a Rangers fan? Or do you just dislike the Old Firm?

 Re: Football (Soccer)
As I'm from Inverness that's the reason. You beat us. I don't have that high expectations of where we will finish so I'm going to say mid table, top half of the split if we're lucky. I clearly am asking for too much. Rematch on 27 November, so look out! We'll probably lose again. (;_;)Disliking the Old Firm? Hmm, that's a tricky one to answer. I must admit that the Rangers-Celtic derbies don't interest me as much as they used to. Before I would get quite excited at the prospect of them but now my reaction is abit 'meh'. I prefer seeing how they do in Europe. EDIT: A Rangers-Celtic derby in European competition would definitely be interesting if that happened. I'd watch that.

Ah, I didn't know you were from Inverness. That's because they're boring now. Bring back the days of riots, bigotry and drunken violence.

 Re: Football (Soccer)
How would you feel if Bayern were in a group like this: Bayern Munich Real Madrid Tottenham Hotspur Hapoel Tel AvivThat seems like a particularly tough group but we have to wait until 5pm to find out what they really get.
