Things to know !
|
. Avatars, if uploaded directly to the site, must be 20 KB or less and 200 x 400 pixels big. They can be unlimited size if they're hosted on another site. I recommend using FileDen to host your images.
. Signatures must be 800 x 200 pixels or less.
. To use a BBCode, hover over the code you want to use. It will show you which tags to put before and after the text or URL you want to insert in between.
. You can't delete posts. If you need a post to be deleted, request a staff member to delete it for you. However, they won't always delete them for you, and they'll never bulk-delete posts for you.
. You get 15 minutes to edit posts. |
Don't do this !
|
Don't sign up to HC if you're a student or journalist asking us to answer questions about the hikikomori phenomenon. It's rude to sign up to a site out of self-interest to ask questions and leave. If you do this, you'll be banned without warning.
If you need hikikomori-related info, use Google - you'll find all the info you need. |
Reporting "problem" threads !
|
Though not common, threads on HC sometimes get rather heated.
A problem thread is when a thread turns into pages upon pages of flaming which usually is irrelevant to the topic at hand. Sometimes people who do the flaming are valid in what they say in their posts, but to flame won't add anything good to this site, and I highly discourage it - it can get you banned/warned. If you encourage flaming (let's say, you create a post knowing it'll help increase the flaming rather than decrease it), it may get you warned - probably not banned, but warned.
This generally is how a problem thread occurs:
1. A person will make a somewhat controversial post (it doesn't necessarily have to be a "bad" post - just something that will make a few people touchy). 2. Someone will get upset over the post and reply (sometimes in a harsh manner; sometimes not). 3. The person who made the controversial post will usually reply in a harsh tone. 4. Everyone starts sharing their opinion in regards to the controversial post -- sometimes in a hostile tone, sometimes not -- but the comments generally are more aggressive than not, and typically are unrelated to the topic at hand.
If you see a thread turning into flaming, do the right thing and report it by copying the thread's URL and sending it to staff via the PM system. If you only see a single controversial post, report the single post by using the "Report" button.
Almost more importantly than the above is that, if you see flaming, you yourself should try to break it up. If you don't have the courage to, simply do the above and PM a staff member.
Thanks. |

He handed the watch back. "Cancel whatever you're doing on Saturday afternoon. You and I are taking a trip." "Where?" Conrad asked. "Back into the past," Stacey said lightly. "To Chronopolis, the Time City."
