Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
It does make you wonder. For instance, I've known a few girls that completely overreact to the slightest unpleasant smell. Like, they are going to hurl or gag.
How would a person like that survive London before the sewer system was built. Although I guess like most stimulus of that sort your brain would filter it out after becoming accustomed to it. Perhaps it's the hyper-sensitivity which is the false reaction... Or maybe Londoners really couldn't stand the smell of London too, but had no other alternative.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
It's just acclimation. Your senses can get used to anything.
Seriously though, I hate gross smells. I don't act like a puss and gag over it, but I'm pretty sensitive to things like people's smell auras. I try to be a good citizen and shower regularly (obsessively) so that whenever I do leave the house, I'm not offensive. I expect the rest of the fleshies to do the same, dammit. I don't want some random's rectal gas molecules inside my nasal passages, kthx. It's like nose rape -- not cool.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
Tasting other people's smells, ye.. I guess that can be a little horrid. I had an IT teacher who lean over and give you a full blast of his awful breath whilst teaching you something. Makes concentrating awfully difficult. I usually just shower every couple of days and leave it at that, but I can't leave the house if I think that my clothe's smell.
Which is a real blast since the washing machine broke down.

Heh, at least you live in a cool climate. Down here, everything is coated in a greasy, sweaty sheen.

senmee, you're the reason why I have to shower every time I leave the house. Last thing I need is, "ewww you smell, oh, you must be Shiro. Nice to meet you smelly person."

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
lol well, I hold myself to the same standards. My showers are usually 1-2 hours of intense scrubbing. When I was in school I would shower between classes and change my clothes every time. I had to do laundry quite often as a result.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
Being in large crowds in which I know a majority of them.
My friends or teachers calling me. My family are the only persons I'm usually comfortable to answer the phone.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
When people put you in that uncomfortable position to meet somebody when you don't want to. They keep insisting on it. And after saying no a billion times they decide to ambush you with these people, fucking you over. God, I hate it.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
- Having to go to a place I've never been before and having to talk to people I've never seen before.
- Having to make a phone call. I'll avoid this as much as I can, and I do it by email if that's possible.
- Unexpected situations, for example, seeing someone who knows you in the supermarket and they ask how you're doing etc. I hate this and I always try to hide or pretend I didn't see them.
- Going clothes shopping and having a store person help you. I understand it's their job, but I really hate it and I'd rather do all of it myself. This is why I buy most of my clothes online.
- Job interviews. I hate having to sell myself.
- People ringing the doorbell. I never open the door, unless I expect someone.
- Having to go to a break room at work during your lunch break and being forced to socialize with your coworkers. My boss wants us to do this now and I really hate it. I always bring a book with me now so I don't have to talk to anyone.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
I hate talking on the phone, videochatting, and going to a friend's house for the first time. I don't know why, but I always get nervous in those situations.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
Let's see umm i don't like being outwith more than 2 people or 3 max, going anywhere with out my headphones, when teachers at collage talk to me when i'm having a fag break, having to spend prolonged periods of time with someone and not being able to think of a rational reason to leave, anykind of mass family gathering, anyone being in my house that dosent live there (my brother has a nasty habit of having friends stay without telling me, i get up and there 4 half naked strangers in my house ) eating in front of people (even at home i'll eat seperately) and any kind of situation that requires polite mundane conversation. hmm thats a worryingly long list. still could be worse i guess.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
Up until I was about 16 I used to freeze up in any social situation that didn't involve my immediate family and close friends. I still experience social anxiety to some extent and I am shy, but I can function in most social situations now, or fake it through. My main fear used to be answering the phone, or rather, making a call. I'd do anything I could to avoid it, but since starting my job, I HAVE to do it. And while I do sometimes get the little nervous clench in my stomach when the phone rings, it's manageable.
Things I still struggle with or just plain dislike; Job interviews, any situation where I'm the centre of attention, unexpected social interaction forced upon me out of the blue, walking into a room where everyone is already seated/strangers, and public speaking. I can muddle through answering the phone and dealing with strangers engaging me in conversation, but I draw the line at public speaking. No amount of practice could obliterate the pure fear I feel at the thought of addressing a large group of people about some important subject.
I think my hatred of being the sole focus of people's attention and severe annoyance at being judged by another human who is no better or worse than me, fuels this fear.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
All of them, any kind of social situation is a chore. The worst though are parties, unexpected visitors, job interviews, public transit, and people trying really hard to sell you something you don't want.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
My boyfriend is in a band, and the other night they played at some guy's house. I went there after work to watch him play, and it just made me feel so panicky, I pretty much just stood in a corner by myself. There were people EVERYWHERE, a lot of skanks and drunks.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
i hate confrontation / arguments in general. i'm never able to convince the other person or people to see my side let alone sway them to my side, so if i'm just going to be wrong no matter what may as well just say it at the beginning and avoid the entire headache.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
It's absolutely terrifying for me. So frustrating as well, because it seems like every time I come home from school i'm just hoping not to see somebody that I used to know, etc.

Re: Which social situations do you dislike?
Yeah, smell can be quite the problem. I get a lot of smelly customers at my workplace. It's quite unpleasant, but I have to put on a nice face for them and take it like an under-paid worker.

Decided to go to a fast food restaurant but there drive-through is packed so I go inside and wait in line. Hate the line waiting and the stair you get when your by yourself, and feel socially out of place when ordering lunch inside.
