Post Re: How were your grades in school?
well, when I was younger, I did well enough... in junior high, I still did okay, especially after being put into special education classes... where my attention span could handle it and I didn't get confused too often.

in high school, I did... okay, I guess. I stopped caring because I was all depressed and stuff a lot of the time. I was in special education classes... until I became a senior. well, there were like, 2 that I was still in, but...

but I remember when I took driver's ed... and after 2 weeks, I stopped caring. never brought my permit so I never drove and I was behind because I always forgot to do the class work... as if I really cared, anyway. but that was at the end of my junior year. lol

and I just stopped caring. I had already failed P.E., anyway...(lol not dressing for the win!) and so then I stopped going to school after a while, I just didn't care anymore. I had been suffering for the past 3 years(though not many people really knew), and I just couldn't take it anymore.

Post Re: How were your grades in school?
Depends on the school. In elementary and junior high we had a system like this:
Lg (fail) Ng (low) G (not too bad) M (very good) and S (highest and hard to get of course).
In elementary we got a suggested grade with comments. I got mostly Gs and some Ms (Norwegian and English), and in some subjects they felt there was too little particiapation to tell, like PE, needle craft and wood craft. My grades just got worse as I got older and more and more uninterested and fed up.

In junior high I started off with a threat hanging over my head (I won’t go into that in this thread) and despite hating school I really made an effort. At this time I already had plenty of problems and holes in my understanding of math, and this problem only worsened. As did my lack of motivation and hatred of school. I started with mostly Gs but during the 3 years of jr high I went down 1-2 grades in all subjects. If the teacher had been fair I wouldn’t have passed math or science, I was that bad at them.

It was well known since 3rd grade that I had tremendous problems in math (not to mention that I hated it with a vengeance) but I never received any real help.
But the teacher passed me.

The 2 first times I tried high school I failed in being there sufficiently for them to grade me.
At 19 I took a one year school course called Assistant in animal care. On this school we had a number system including decimal points where 1 was the highest, 6 the lowest and 4,0 the lowest to pass.
In the 2 modules concerning anatomy, physiology, behaviour, firsat aid and vet situations I got 2,7. Medications, lab work and laws: 2,0. Computer work: 3,4. Horses: 3,8.

The great thing about that school was that depending on the module I had 1-3 days free (not counting weekends) and we only had 4 classes each day.

The last time I tried high school I passed the first year with good marks. Here we also used numbers (without decimals, bu ton tests we could get for instance 3-4 or 5+ or -, but in the actual final grade only whole numbers.) where 6 was the best, 0 the lowest and 2 the lowest to pass.
The 1st year subjects I got one 6, four 5’s, one 4, two 3’s and two 2’s.

When I got into that school I was accepted one month after the others and therefore I was allowed to put off chemistry and physics until the next year. It really helped, having less classes.
The next year I took chemistry and physics for year 1 as well as 4 classes of year 2.
In these 4 classes I got three 6’s, one 5 and one 2. (Norwegian grades are divided in both oral and written, therefore one grade more than the actual classes).
The subjects of the second year were way harder and I lost grades fast and getting no assistance from school I lost all my motivation. I had already began feeling that I didn't wanna continue, that settled it. In the first term I got one 6, two 3’s, one 2 and one 1. I still had half a year left and quit.

These were my grades from age 7 until age 27.

The older I got, the more I asked myself "What's the point? I'm never going to get a job".

During the middle of my senior year, I skipped over a week of school and the principal called and said if I didn't go to school the next day I'd be expelled.
I didn't go. :laugh

Post Re: How were your grades in school?
My grades in late elementary/high-school were awful, strictly due to anxiety.

If I could have payed attention in class, I would've done well - that's for sure. Since I couldn't, I didn't bother. I was far more preoccupied with what people were thinking about me than about my work, and I knew it was irrational to worry about this, but I couldn't help it. It was impossible for me to get past the severe anxiety, and I knew I couldn't, so I spent class daydreaming.

A very small percentage of people in this world have social anxiety as severe as I do. I throw up all the time, my chest hurts like hell, my head goes numb (sometimes for days) - I could go on. It's a burden of great proportions. It would be an impossibility for me to experience a "normal" life until getting rid of it, although it's died down a little.

My whole "plan" was to eventually take my life; the plan lasted until very recently. The idea still pops up in my head from-time-to-time, but it doesn't linger for 5+ hours a day like it used to. I want to experience life a little longer, because some things, such as music, bring me great pleasure.

My suicidal tendencies have been returning, but I'm not going to go to a shrink about it since it wouldn't help me at all - I don't believe in most of them. Most of them "do their job" by suggesting that you go on pills. Their professions are just that - professions. I find they hardly care about their clients.

Sorry, this was kind of off-topic, but I wanted to get that info out there.

B-C range. Except that's only because of lack of interest, stress, and lack of paying attention. If I had less stress about school I'd probably be bumped up to easy A's and B's.

EDIT: Chair, I want to hug you.

Post Re: How were your grades in school?
My grades throughout most of elementary school (6-12 years old) were from good to average. I usually got a combo of A's, B's, & C's, sometimes getting the honor roll (for all A's & B's) & once the merit roll (all A's & B's plus one C). But in the sixth grade, for the first & only time in my life, I decided to follow the crowd & purposefully got bad grades to try to be "cool". I was tired of being made fun of & all of the "cool" kids got bad grades & were constantly in trouble. I thought I'd get made fun of less if I got bad grades (it didn't work lol). All I ended up doing was screwing up myself when it came to grades from then on into high school. After that, I mainly got C's D's & F's, even though I'm a smart person. Once I reached middle school the next year, I was done trying to be cool, but my anxiety was so bad from being tortured so much, that I could never concentrate & my grades remained bad until I quit high school when I was 18.

I never had grades. I didn't attend enough classes and dropped out eventually. I usually had highest score on the few tests I did though.

As for social anxiety, I had a severe version too some years back. I was worried about what people were thinking about me too, but I just stopped caring. It didn't make me more suited to enter society but ever since I stopped apologizing for being me, I felt better. It feels like I've gained a certain amount of wisdom and that most people just back off if I need them to. I'm more like I'm on drugs or something when out among people. Numb and in a way I look down on others. It doesn't remove my need to be by myself but it sure does remove the social anxiety part. I speak to a lot of people as if they were dead in my eyes, or faceless servants. I just don't care at all about others around me.

Perfect until high school, at which point I failed every class throughout freshman and sophomore year. However I continued getting perfect or near perfect scores on every test. I didn't like homework.

Long story short, after 3-4 years of going to this particular college, I failed the same class for the third time, which means I can't go to this college anymore. Ever. Almost 4 years down the drain.

I did horrible lol

I didn't care at all about high school. To me, it was just a daycare. I did OK in my good classes, but didn't try in my others. My GPA in senior year was a 2.7. The worst part was that I was in a magnet highschool. All of the classes were basically college level. If I would have went to a basic public school, I would have had like a 4.0. Just viewing in retrospect.

My last year of high-school was like that, which prompted me to leave.

I skipped 1/8th of my final year (played hooky, got stoned, skipped out on certain things, etc.) , didn't do homework (never did throughout high-school) and didn't listen in class (I couldn't focus due to anxiety and a lack of interest). It didn't help that my plan was to kill myself post-graduating school, which prevented me from being motivated.

Oh wow, that's so much like my school life. Except I haven't dropped out. I am dead scared of school, though. But I really want to get into college. I wish there was a way that I could skip high school and get into college.

Mostly B's. Got some A's in classes I was good at, like English and the piddly shit ones, C's and D's in Math, and then pretty much B in everything else. Except gym...which was like a D throughout until 11th grade when I got into Personal Fitness, AKA, fat girls gym class. Then it was A's.

At college now my overall is like a 3.08. I fucked around in the college classes I got in HS and it's totally screwing me over. But it's not like I need anything higher. It doesn't matter as long as I'm over 2.5.

My grades really fluctuate based on my mood. Sometimes I have awesome ideas for my essays that translate into excellent grades and sometimes I flunk because I wasn't interested in the essay topic and it showed. I generally do worse for exams than assignments because I don't have a good memory for facts and quotes I'm not interested in and so I can't write well without referring.

Normal, as in very good. Most of the schools here don't care about discipline and knowlege, they keep writing good notes for whatever you do. Actually I skipped almost all of the last year in school and still had very good grades.

In primary school, I was almost good enough to be bumped up a year. I was always the brainy one in class and the only time the other kids spoke to me was when they needed help with their work.

When I got to high school, everything turned to shit. I rarely attended and just lost all motivation. I managed to get three Standard Grades from my fourth year exams (that's GCSEs to the English among us), but those were the subjects I had a natural ability in. I couldn't even bothered revising.
I decided to stay on for fifth year and do Highers (that's A Levels), God knows why. I rarely attended then too, and I finally left after realising there was no point.

I was always one of the top students in my class. (Don't read too much into that, I didn't go to any very competitive schools)

I had 35% attendance from year 9 however, and it didn't really get any better the subsequent years. I'm honestly suprised that my parents didn't get into legal trouble. Maybe the school was lenient because I was always well behaved and a good learner. My grades didn't really drop much either, except for German, languages require alot memorization after all. A friend of mine said. 'You don't even come to school and still get better marks.' Naturally, I never turned up for the final exams.

Oh, I was never good at P.E. either, being overweight, but they always gave me an A for effort. That felt so condescending. I just stopped going to P.E. entirely and went to the library instead. No one bothered to ask me about it even ><.
