Post Re: Movies with hikikomori/reclusive themes
Vanilla sky had some elements on reclusive too, David Aames (Tom Cruise) in the film shut himself up after an accident, due to his low self esteem, fear, and physical/mental scars, everything turns for the worst and never got any better, don't want to spoil the film but here's the story outline on imdb:

Quote:
David Aames takes all he has for granted; his wealth, his inherited publishing company, his good looks - his relationships. Especially his relationships. It catches up to him when a friend/sometimes sex-partner can't see their relationship the way he sees it. From that point, the movie takes a Lynchian twist that ultimately and literally pulls us into Aames' tortured psyche.

I really feel that this movie gets slammed more than it should.
It's so easy to hate Tom Cruise, and though the script seemed flawed I really liked him here.
And sure I've heard that the original Spanish version Open Your Eyes is light years better.
Still, I loved Vanilla Sky.

Hello.

I want to introduce you all to one Polish movie - Suicide Room (Sala Samobójców)
about movie - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1808454/
I hope these are correct links to torrents: http://en.podnapisi.net/sala-samob-jc-w ... s-p1284967 and http://www.cupymy.rzeszow.pl/sala-samob ... nline.html

I watched this movie last time - okay, parents of Dominik are very rich, and problems maybe are a little unreal, but I think it's worth to watch.

Suicide Room (Sala Samobójców) - not a bad movie watched the original Polish, no subtitles. The reasons are not realistic, in my opinion. In Polish it is better to watch than some translation. Style reminded me Ben X.

Although the film is not about hikimori. But the film still liked. Nakajima started working on the script at 19, when he was still a hard core hikikomori. "

http://www.asiatorrents.com/index.php?p ... 645ead4499 The film has not looked yet. Waiting on the English subtitles do not know Japanese.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0262826/ cool movie would live as a protagonist. The main thing to have money enough. Something I really liked in the film. His lifestyle did not let anyone, not let. Unless he wants.

Cat Girl Kiki - Trilogy Akihabary. Like all movies, even. Especially the last movie scene with cosplay.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436816/ - The film I am looking for a very long time, do not know if it really somewhere to look at least online.

I saw 'Castaway on the Moon' mentioned on the last page. . .I'm just reiterating it as a good recommendation.

- Memories of Matsuko has elements reclusion and is quite enjoyable throughout.
- Peep TV Show is a gem of a film and includes Hikikomoris in its storyline.
- Persona features a character that voluntarily stops talking throughout the length of the film. Not much of a reclusive theme but very enjoyable nonetheless.
- Atomised is a German film that has more themes of loneliness rather than reclusion.
- Repulsion, another of Polanski's directed film with The Tenant already mentioned, has themes of loneliness.
- The Solitude of Prime Numbers, based on a book of the same name, is a beautiful film that I thoroughly recommend!

Loner / Woetoli

Do not like those movies in the genre, more like a drama would normally have done. My life horror, real and not fictitious. No anyone honestly recommend a movie. That movie was not taken seriously and not drop.

I was interrupted in the first 10 minutes of Mary and Max and had forgotten to watch the rest of it.
Thanks for reminding me.

Mary and Max
I looked, it probably is better that I saw. What was done by plasticine for a lifetime. Although seen the creation in a style similar using the same technology.
