I have heard recently (either on TV or radio) that these two can help against depression, but I don't know id it's true. Anyone who has it can try. It probably won't hurt anyway. Especially the first one might be very dependent of personality, but here goes:

Exercise

Sunlight (vitamin D)

Going outside and meeting people is tough in itself but I like to venture out if I've been indoors too long. Of course I take the least travelled route through my town to avoid any unexpected meetings with people I used to know. My destination is of greater importance here. It's a field with a long river stretching through it and a large bridge running over the river. This place is my haven when staying indoors eventually takes its toll on my mind. It's so peaceful there hearing the cars going over the bridge, and I normally go on days where the sun is out. I'm at peace there and I like to pass the time on my own by playing skipping stones. It's a small pleasure in life but I feel content there and rarely do people walk by the river so it actually feels good being outdoors. Though after going to this same place for years to retreat I get the feeling the locals probably recognise me by sight everytime I cross the train tracks to get to this field, a little unnerving to say the least so I alternate my routes to get there whenever I go.

Long story short, if you can find a nice place outside thats out of the way, just take a book or anything along such as paper for drawing, you can feel a little more content with the outside world.

Excercise or just flat out forcing myself to get some work done so I can at least have some accomplishments/achievements I can be happy about and thus one reason less to hate myself.

That's beautiful, your feelings while in the company of nature are inspiring. I used to go outside a lot more often, even sleeping under the stars for a few nights in a row, but now my room is my habitat--depression is paralyzing to the point where I can't bring myself to speak or move my limbs. I try treating this with l-tyrosine (500 mg a day), which does relatively nothing but let me feel that I'm at least trying to help myself...I'm most at peace speaking one-on-one with a member of a handful of familiars, maybe over a bong or dinner, or losing myself in a book or a movie, but sometimes depression gives me no choice but to wallow in negativity.

taking fish oil pills is supposed to help with depression, and can even help with bi-polar disorders. also, vitamin d helps with depression. that's why it feels good to go into the sun, it's the vitamin d rush to your brain.

Hmm I should try this. The Vitamin D part.

I've also heard that about the sun. Vitamin D plays a big part in your mood.
