 Re: Anxiety + Phones
I honestly don't see what's scary in receiving calls from "okay" people, although I can see how it's a problem if there aren't a lot of "okay" people around. I don't like making calls, or initiating most types of contact usually. In my opinion, over the phone you can always yell if the other person is being annoying/mean and you always have the option to ragequit and hangup. Not that I get into a lot of phone arguments or anything, I don't see the problem with phones anyway. It's email that gets me.

 Re: Anxiety + Phones
In regards talking on the phone, if you meet your friends how do you converse with them? I think it is better if you undergo with the treatment of certain psychologist. They can help you from this unusual activity or response.

 Re: Anxiety + Phones
Those words have the same effect on me. I have enough to worry about without thinking that my phone call is going to be used as an example of a bizarrely nervous caller at the same later time. Hysterical, I know, but getting that far is bad enough most of the time.

 Re: Anxiety + Phones
I'm actually generally great on the phone if it's for business matters and/or dealing with people I don't know. If I'm on the phone to a friend & I'm not in the best mood however, I can sometimes get very fucking anxious. It's only having to deal with people face to face & trying to face the real world where I seem to have BIG fucking issues. So yeah, I'm good with phones; but not so good at dealing with people in the flesh. Unless I get myself drunk & more careless before, or on those rare days I'm just luckily more at ease with stuff sigh...

Those days are so fucked up. You start believing you can handle shit. Then you get reminded that, no you can't.

 Re: Anxiety + Phones
I really like texting, but I can't stand talking on the phone. I used to love it when I was in elementary school but when I got to middle school I just started to get nervous when I talked on the phone. Now I only pick up the phone for my mom and I try to make the call as brief as I can. When my phone rings I usually just pretend I'm in a situation where I can't talk then just text the person who called me.

 Re: Anxiety + Phones
I hate phones. Every times the family phone rings, it gives me the shivers. My pulse is rising and I get nervous. Even if I stand next to the phone, I don't pick it up.
Same thing for the doorbell.

 Re: Anxiety + Phones
I hate phones, or at least calling people, texting is fine. When the phone rings I ignore it if I can.

I dont answer the phone either, or phone people. Very ocationaly i'll talk on the phone if someone else answers the phone /calls them for me. Besides my friens know i dont talk on the phone and text me so anyone likely to be calling me will probibaly be someone i dont want to talk to.
