 Pale Moon: A custom-built & optimized Firefox-based browser
If you're a Firefox user, consider trying out Pale Moon which is speedier than the official Firefox (benchmarks show that it's speedier and it also "feels" speedier). Firefox add-ons work with it, so if you switch from Firefox to Pale Moon you won't be making a huge sacrifice. | | | | Quote: Why settle for a basic build of your Firefox browser on Windows Operating Systems when you can have one that is specifically made for getting the most out of your system? Mozilla does not provide optimized browser packages for Windows, meaning you may be losing speed and efficiency when you use your browser; and truth be told, most people use their browsers all the time! That needs to change, so, here is the Pale Moon project: Custom-built and optimized Firefox-based browsers for Windows Operating Systems. Make sure to get the most speed and efficiency out of your browser! Of course, getting a more efficient browser is not just about optimizing the compilation process (building a program from its source code), but also about carefully choosing features and knowing how to choose the best setup. This means that this browser, however extremely close to Firefox in the way it works, does not have all the functions that Firefox has. A few, carefully selected, features have been disabled that are not in high demand, and that do not interfere with the way web pages are displayed or function; all to maximize speed and efficiency of the browser. Please see the page with technical details to learn exactly what the browser supports, and what it doesn't support. In short, if you need accessibility features or parental controls, then please visit the firefox homepage and get the official, non-optimized build. With the next generation version (starting with Pale Moon 4), there are also a few other differences that are more obvious and not just "under the hood": contrary to what Mozilla has done with their redesign of the user interface, Pale Moon will continue to provide a familiar set of controls and visual feedback similar to previous versions, including grouped navigation buttons of a decent size, a bookmarks toolbar that is enabled by default, and not in the least a functional status bar. To download the current version* of the Pale Moon browser, please click below for the web-installer, which will check your system's capabilities and allow a quick choice of browser, or download the installer of your choice by going to the appropriate download page from the menu at the top of this page! Main features:- Highly optimized for modern processors
- 100% Firefox sourced: As safe as the browser that has seen years of development.
- Uses slightly less memory because of disabled redundant and optional code
- Significant speed increases for page drawing and script processing
- Stability: experience fewer browser crashes.
- Support for SVG and Canvas, and downloadable fonts including WOFF
- Support for HTML5 and WebGL (v4+)
- Support for Firefox extensions (add-ons), themes and personas
- Support for OOPP (Out-of-process plugin execution)
- Able to use existing Firefox bookmarks and settings with this migration tool

I use this at work. Because I'm on a Pentium 4 and the alternative is IE.

 Re: Pale Moon: A custom-built & optimized Firefox-based brow
I just wanna let you people who made the switch to Pale Moon know that Pale Moon, by default, disables automatic add-on updates and, I believe, automatic updates of the Pale Moon browser. I guess it's because nerds often prefer to manually update their apps . I recommend that you turn on automatic updates. To do so, click on Tools, Add-ons, and select Update Add-ons Automatically: When you're done that, click on Tools, Options, Advanced, click on the Update tab and make everything look like this (also put a check mark beside Search Engines if you use the search-engine box):

Pale Moon 11 will be out soon. Version 10 was skipped for various reasons.

You might want to try Pale Moon, Cface as benchmark tests aren't always accurate. I've seen various people say that Pale Moon is quicker than Waterfox. And take a look at this.

 Re: Pale Moon: A custom-built & optimized Firefox-based brow
I've used Pale Moon, Nightly, Waterfox as well as a few other variants, this one seems to work best for me. Especially with a few about:config tweaks. I honestly don't pay much attention to benchmarks I care more about how it handles what I'm doing. (Obviously )
