 Re: Dub vs Sub
sub, but mostly because there only seems to be about 10 people that do english dubs, and i am so sick of hearing monica rial and jessica boone as the main female characters in every single anime EVER...

 Re: Dub vs Sub
I like subtitles more. I don't really like dubs, but I guess I could watch an anime with dubs if I had to.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
I prefer subs. So much is lost in the dubbed versions. The voices are almost always comical and wrong compared to the subbed/original versions. The only exception I know to this in the anime Naruto. I could not stand his subbed voice. At all. However, in the dubbed version, it was less annoying and irritating and I could tolerate it. The dubbed version are also made more "kid-friendly" and the language is stepped down, sometimes to the point where even I notice that it doesn't match the mood properly.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
I would choose a sub over a dub normally, but I agree with XBlacky; if I see the dub first and it's tolerable, the dub is what sticks with me.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
Sub, dub doesn't sound 'right' to me. But yeah, if you see one first it sticks - like hearing a cover or a remix of a song first.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
Subtitles, since amusingly enough the stereotypes of highpitched voices are usually more true for the dub than the original. I usually hear both though, at some point or another, and some dubs are very good.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
Subs for serious anime, dubs for comedy/slice of life. I figured out recently it's nice to just enjoy the animation and purty colors and not have to read anything. Not to mention, bad dubs/voice acting can make things more funny. So if I had to pick one, I'd go with dubs.
EDIT: And apparently I'm in the minority with a single vote for dubs. Awesome.

Yeh i feel this way too, its the reason i watch bleach anime instead of read the manga, it has cool fight scenes that are a lot better to watch animated etc.

Dubs always sound funny to me, and the translations are usually off.

I almost always prefer subs, but I like getting dual audio for the series with decent voice-acting.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
Subs because Japanese sounds beautiful, reading subtitles is no effort to me at all anymore probably because I read all the time as a kid so I read fast, and because dubs seems butchered or fake, I like things to be how they really are.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
I hate dubs with a passion. I'd rather not watch a film at all if I'd have to watch it with dubs. Lots of stuff, including the soundtrack and sound effects, are changed in the dubbed audio-track.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
I don't mind dubs. In some cases, english voice overs are a little too enthusiastic and/or retarded for me too fully enjoy and only leaves me with an awkward feeling when watching. Some japanese dubs though can be vice versa. On the other hand, they save me the trouble of reading the text on the screen and allow me to pay more attention to the action and scenery.
Voted for 'Don't care'. I have preferences for various anime I like. Subbed and dubbed.

Only subs. If it's dubbed I'd rather not watch it. Dub is just weird.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
Dubs. I can't stand reading movies/cartoons. I end up missing out on too much of the story. If possible I will go for English dubs rather than Norwegian, since I think the Norwegian dubs sound ridiculous and way too high pitched.
I'd have to really be interested to bother watching a sub.

 Re: Dub vs Sub
It depends. Usually the japanese voice actors are better, but I love hearing a really good english dub, especially if the characters were western to begin with. An example would be Black Lagoon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rxVQe8vtOII love their various accents! Btw Skilpadde, are there actually norwegian-dubbed anime?!

I hate, hate, HATE dubs >.< I really don't understand Italians and Germans with their dubbing EVERYTHING. I mean, Friends or Simpsons or South Park in German/Italian? No way. NO WAY. Let alone English dubs of anime. Blergh

 Re: Dub vs Sub
Once again, I am in the non-existent "other" category. I like raws. Subtitles are distracting and often mistranslated, and dubs are usually awkward. そして良い練習です。関西弁も習うことができはる。ええやで!

 Re: Dub vs Sub
I'm German and I hate that well. Foreign movies with subtitles? Forget it. I know when the EU said once Germany has to offer more subtitles in movies and series the reaction was like "Blasphemy!" (Actually the EU meant subtitles for the hearing impaired. And we're even poor with that offer though those people would need it very much. Yeah, very disabled-friendly, thanks!) Well, glad I have lots of DVDs here so I can enjoy the original with subs.
