Would you live on the moon?
I always thought of how life would be if I lived on the moon alone.. I don't think i'd mind it.. I love the moon.. Would you live on the moon?

Re: Would you live on the moon?
"Lunarian" are people who are born on the Moon. due to the effects of lower gravity, their bones arent developed enough to withstand earth's gravity. this also applies to people who has been exposed to prolong low gravity environments. not to mention that the moon has no atmosphere, i'd rather not get bombarded with ultraviolet light and radiation. so if we ever do colonize the moon, i'd probably visit the amusement park on vacations but living there isnt a good idea. well, that is unless the fix the gravity and have thick anti-radiation walls for the buildings.

Re: Would you live on the moon?
I wouldn't want to live in reduced gravity if I ever had to come back to earth gravity. I'm fat enough as it is. If somehow I could generate artificial gravity over a small area and live there that would be cool.
I remember hearing on some documentary that people born and raised on the moon could grow to be ten feet tall.

Re: Would you live on the moon?
You mean about the ten footers? They'd probably end up looking something like this, without the super long necks. They would be really weak compared to us and need constant calcium suppliments. If it's even possible for humans to live their whole lives in low gravity. [img]http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/3119/432044-250px-Kaminoans[1]_large.jpg[/img]

Re: Would you live on the moon?
well generally speaking it is "possible" to live on the moon. nasa and the other space agencies are designing long term specialized space pods to live on the surfaces of moon and mars. the thing about these pods are they're small as fuck and need specialist to keep it running. we wont see actual colonizing until 2045. when the time comes and we could live on the moon without any problems, it'd still be no. the moon seems like a boring place, you have dust and a bunch of holes i'd much rather live on a terraformed mars

Re: Would you live on the moon?
I would personally never refused, helium 3 if there would be money paid gladly.
Helium-3 was harvested in the 2009 science fiction movie Moon, by the story's protagonist Sam Bell, the occupant of a mining station on the far side of the Moon.[55][56][57] The isotope is mined from asteroids to be used as fuel for the entire economy in the space combat game Allegiance. Helium-3 is described as a common commercial starship fuel in the science fiction role-playing games Mass Effect (2007) and Mass Effect 2 (2010), where it is harvested from gas giants. In the Japanese hard science fiction manga Planetes, 70% of the world's energy demands are provided by electricity produced by nuclear fusion, with the main fuel source being helium-3. The isotope was harvested from gas giants by Edenists for use as starship fuel by Adamists in The Night's Dawn Trilogy (1996, 1997 and 1999), by British science fiction author Peter F. Hamilton.[58] Mark Anson's science fiction thriller Below Mercury[59] is set in the abandoned workings of Erebus Mine, an ice mining and helium-3 extraction facility in the depths of Chao Meng-fu crater, on the South Pole of Mercury. Frank Schätzing talks about the mining of helium-3 in his book Limit, published in march 2011

Re: Would you live on the moon?
The main condition for me 1) space per month delivery of all goods that you want. Without money it is not real. Helium 3 is a solution. 2) I want to have some people. Do not say to speak to them. Just know that they are on the moon. The human activity. 3) The less work, spend too much time on hobbies. 4) Always that was fallback income. 5) everyone will live separately different bases. Many kilometers of each other. 6) Protection of radiation. 7) small room for growing food. 8) If the base will be very close side by side, I fly to Mars.

Re: Would you live on the moon?
Technically, there's internet wherever we can build a transmitter powerful enough. If there's some old satellite probe somewhere near Jupiter, and it can access any webpage (even if it took months and years for every signal to get there), then there's internet on Jupiter

Could you imagine the internet in a Foundation style galactic empire? That would be so cool, I bet there would be so many free alien porn sites.

Re: Would you live on the moon?
I would be more interested in their Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects but i guess that to each one their interests . And on topic, i don't think i would live on the moon, never really cared much for outer space to be honest (it kinds of unsettles me a bit to be honest), the only science fiction movie i've seen that i loved/found interesting is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also: Can you imagine the number of books there would be in there? And the movies and videogames you could illegally download? .

I assume there's faster than light communication. Anyway there were no aliens in the Foundation galaxy.

I wont even leave my town without a fight.
Theres no way im going all the way to the moon.
Besides the moon is compleatly barren, everything you needed would have to be launched up to you. Think of the cost.

Re: Would you live on the moon?
I think I'd like to stay there (doing some kind of minimal job like in Moon, having internet/books/piano). . .but, but the earth is beautiful! If only people were forced to live on the moon and be shown earth pictures they'd realise how much they take for granted now.

Re: Would you live on the moon?
No. You'd weigh 1/6 of what you weigh on earth so you could jump pretty high but there's no way you could escape the moon's gravity.

Yeah, but it's all expensive imports, no local brands. The local liquor made from moon-cheese is pretty good though.
