Favorite Characters?
Basically, what are your favorite characters?
Just to clarify, i mean characters from any sort of art/fiction/medium, not just books.

Catherine - Wuthering Heights.
Mostly because she reminds me of myself. She's not ultimately bad natured but allows herself a great moral latitude, she's described as having a temper so short it's almost brattish and she's extremely self centered.
I know it seems a bit masturbatory to like a character for that reason, especially one who's such a cunt but whatever.

Don Quijote de la Mancha. .
You know, i have to admit i am sometimes tempted to do something similar to what he did, pretty much the main thing avoiding it is my sanity, knowing that is not the proper way, and feeling a bit, unwell/unsure to put it in a way, about dying .
By the way, i forgot to mention that if you want it would be cool/interesting if you said from which medium (novel, movie, etc.) is the work the character is from, or if it's a character that appeared in many things, then preferably where he made his first/central appearance.

Re: Favorite Characters?
I moved this to random, since most of these aren't related to books and it'll get more traffic anyways.
As for my favorite characters, they change fairly often with whatever I'm into. Right now, I'm obsessed with Helena Cain.
It's hard to think about all of them for some reason.
I like a lot of stories bit there are very few characters I can say that I actually like. To me most of them are just there to drive the story forwards.
George (Georgina) in Famous 5 was okay; I very strongly identified with her reading those books as a kid.

Just out of curiosity, you mean Novel Geralt de Rivia instead of Videogame Geralt de Rivia Right? And by the way, i also watched Blade Runner but it was quite some time ago and with the loathsome narration, so my experience is a bit muddled, should watch it again, i can't say at my first viewing i though much of the female android .

Actually I've been talking about the game-Geralt. I know about the books, but I didn't read them. Why did you assume I was talking about the books? I have to admit that I feel a tiny bit attracted to the character of the game-Geralt. I like about him that he doesn't look like a male model, the imperfection, his scepticism, composure and decidedness. ;-)
Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies. I'm not surprised to find that Rachel didn't attract your attention. She doesn't appear very often and not for a long time in the movie. Rachel has been the subject of a song by She wants Revenge:
There's a poem that she wrote And hid under the mattress, And if you find it please leave it alone. With a picture she took of a girl on the subway, With orange barrettes And the saddest face she's ever known. As Rachael starts to wonder Was it hers to begin with, Or was the memory from someone else's sleep. Cause there's a hole in her heart That still harbors a question, Whose answer just might break it So she's hanging on. At least it's hers to keep. So I asked her:
"What if this does not belong to you, And all the things you thought were true Turned out to just be someone else's lies" Baby this does not belong to you, This does not belong to you. This does not belong to you.
There's a fleck in her eye that no one ever noticed, A pretty birthmark for such a beautiful face. All the men from her past Seem to have left her abandoned, I guess there's some things That you can never erase. I've seen her play with her hair In a moment of tension, I've seen her with her guard down ready to cry. Cause there's a hole in her heart That still harbors the question, Whose answer just might break it, Still she's hanging on, Cause no one wants to die. Then she asked me:
"What if this does not belong to you, And all the things you thought were true Turned out to just be someone else's lies" Cause baby this does not belong to you, This does not belong to you. This does not belong to you.
Unfortunately there are only crappy live versions of the song on Youtube.

It's been a while since I've seen Blade Runner too, but I remember Rachel clearly, mainly because of the fact that she was gorgeous.

Oh! Really? You know, i played the Witcher too time ago, never finished it tough, i think i got until act 3 or 4, by the time you had to start picking some sides in things. I don't know exactly why i assumed you were talking about the books, i guess it was custom . And yeah, Geralt was quite cool and interesting, and he had that certain air about him, kinda like a dark samurai or honor-bound warrior wanderer, and how he's always on his two feet and on gallop so to say. The game actually had quite a rich and interesting story and characters.
Yeah, i have to admit that i never though much about Rachel, but i think i should have since she seems to be a very interesting character (both because of what happened to her/what she is and her character per se) You know what moment of Blade Runner got imprinted by fire in my mind? When Deckard is chasing this replicant woman who is running from him, and in downtown, he takes out his gun and starts shooting her, and the music, the slow, the sounds of the gunshot, the acting, the breaking glass, it's all so surreal, he's not even sure if he's shooting at a robot or a person and this bizarre thing is happening in the middle of the downtown and everyone is just... Going on with their stuff. I don't know why, but that scene had a really great impact on me. I know She Wants Revenge but i never heard any of their songs by the way
On topic: A new favorite Character: Victor Mancini from Choke, one of the greatest Palahniuk characters ever.

Apparently, yes, although I can't watch the video in Germany due to copyrighted content.
