Post Ambience / Noise
I thought I'd make this thread for people to post ambient tracks they enjoy as, I for one, would love to hear more. Also, I wonder what people here think of "noise music" (kind of a silly term because noise and music are two different things); Do you enjoy it? Do you hate it? Do you not understand it? Personally, while I don't sit and listen to noise music, I find the live performances to be really something; it is certainly the pure sound of chaos.

I found this video back in 2007, documenting a "japanoise" artist called 'Guilty Connector' and I was captivated by his manic performances. Since then I've had an interest in the genre and do enjoy watching these crazy live acts!

As for ambient music, I adore this track by Brian Eno; entitled "Music For Airports" (the first of 4 variations):

I can't get enough ambient music and drones. Now for some shameless self-promotion.

I don't know if this counts.

I'm not usually into ambiance so...

A little hard and hectic to ambient really; ambient music generally doesn't have a clear beat or pulse, but a light beat isn't unheard of. Some ambient music is very relaxing and light-hearted (much like that Brian Eno track in the original post), but can also be quite disturbing. As an example, this is one of my favourite Aphex Twin tracks from his 1994 album 'Selected Ambient Works Volume II'. The tracks are actually all untitled, but there is a picture to correspond with each track, and so this track is known as 'Grass':

Here is a nice video previewing the rest of the tracks on the album, completing with corresponding images. The one for 'Grass' has really stuck with me every time I listen to it:

All except 'Blue Calx', the first track from CD 2.

wow jester that is beautiful... do you have anymore?

these ones are me, just a little project i was doing in the summer. both are just improvised on guitar... first one is kinda drone/ambient and the second one actually has audible guitar sounds. i'm waiting for snow to do another one but maybe falling leaves will be fun too.

they are kinda quiet... better with volume turned up a bit

i don't like this one as much

as for other artists, i really love stars of the lid, eno and robin guthrie but there are tons of others. not really a big fan of harsh noise but noise can be very beautiful when not too grating

Well.. thanks guys, I wasn't expecting it to be liked that much. I'm afraid I don't have any more because it was my first attempt at anything electronica-related.
I'm hearing some good stuff on this thread. I liked some of the links you posted, Soulless, even if they're not ambient.
How did you record and produce your tunes, Noisy?
Really like the first one. I like how the chord changes creep in. Great scenery too. Gimme Moar!
Some Boards of Canada for you guys:

thanks.. i just recorded them with a zoom h1 recorder in the corner of my room, it's pretty much just raw from that. it's all done in one take with a loop pedal so i can create a loop and keep adding layers to it live

Amazing tracks Noisy, they sound awesome. Not to mention excellent footage! I haven't made any ambient music myself for a long time; but I have started a new project recently for my Garage / Ambient tracks, so you may still enjoy them: http://soundcloud.com/jibakurei/jibakurei-track01

I use FL Studio 9 (should really upgrade to 10 sometime soon though :p ), I usually make dance music under this account: www.soundcloud.com/shoujo

Really glad you like it though! I enjoy making stuff like that from time to time, so I thought I may as well put my stuff online.

I'm a big Nurse With Wound fan.
Steven Stapleton is beyond my musical comprehension, and thus I'm fascinated by his work.

For proper ambient stuff, you can go wrong with Stars of the Lid:
