 What is your favorite anime?
My current favorite is Bleach, although I like many. The action and plot of Bleach is what really attracts me to it. Even the fillers are normally good. What's your favorite?

I'm more into shojo - Nodame Cantabile is my favorite so far, and also Code Geass.

Welcome to the N.H.K., of course... I also really like FLCL, Paranoia Agent, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

yeh, bleach is also my favorite for the same reasons, however i feel like the movies are always a bit rushed, except fade to black, that was actually pretty decent.

Re: What is you favorite anime?
I've never watched an anime series before; all I've seen are anime films.
I enjoy pretty much enjoy every Miyazaki film I have seen, enjoyed the film 'Akira', and really liked the anthology film 'Memories' (especially the first short film in the anthology 'Magnetic Rose'), which was directed by various people.
If I'd have to pick one anime film, I think I'd have to go with the short film 'Magnetic Rose' from 'Memories'; either that or 'Spirited Away' (the animation in that film is stunning).
I've seen parts of various anime series before, and to be honest, nothing I have seen has appealed much to me. It could be because of the awful English dubbing, or perhaps it's because as a kid I hated Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z with a passion. I think another problem is that most anime series are geared towards a younger audience.
I might find an anime series to watch someday, but for now, I've got over a hundred DVDs in my collection that I've yet to view (including a few anime films).

Re: What is you favorite anime?
Afro Samurai is awesome, and i've always had a lingering desire to see Akira (and just more anime in general). I'm just lacking it on my harddrive/in my DVD collection. Alas, someday i shall find the impetus...
Oh, by the way. Grave of the Fireflies? MOST DEPRESSING THING EVER. I'm seriously welling up thinking of it now. It's been compared to Schindler's List, and Roger freakin' Ebert called it the most powerful anti-war film ever. That's some hardcore misery right there.

I rarely watch the anime series, but when it comes to film I'd say Akira, Grave of the Fireflies and Ghost in the Shell (In that order).

Re: What is you favorite anime?
I truly love slice of life anime series' like Ichigo Mashimaro, Hyakko, Minami Ke and the like. It s because there s no real equivalent in the west. These shows really have nothing 'important' happening in them, they re just the regular everyday lives of interesting people and their amusing friends. I think the reason i like them so much is because they show how great real life could be and are something to aspire to.
I don t particularly like much other anime, because most of it is action, supernatural, fantasy, sci fi etc. and don t make a lot of sense to me. But as for anime film I have to admit i do love Studio ghibli but other such as Akira and Ghost in the Shell i wasn t a fan of, again because they reminded of all those anime series that didn t make a lot of sense to me.
Grave of the Fireflies I ve only seen once, i don t think i could watch it again...so sad.

Re: What is you favorite anime?
I haven't seen any of those particular series, but I also tend to enjoy the "slice of life" kind of series more than the stuff with giant robots and things like that. I really like Azumanga Daioh and Cromartie High School, which are both basically just about kids going to school and funny things happening. They have no real plot to speak of, but there's just something about them that makes me happy. It's hard to describe.

Re: What is you favorite anime?
That s the exact feeling yes. These shows leave you feeling happy and content, whereas all the super violent ones with a grand purpose and 'giant robots' tend to just leave me feeling hollow and unfulfilled afterwards. Azumanga Daioh was another good one, along with Lucky Star, but i think the three series i mentioned are really among the very best of the genre.

One Piece. All the positive things shown in one crew, things i can only dream of and seeing them reaching their goal is satisfying.
Darker than Black for a more realistic feeling.

It’s either Welcome to the NHK or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. But I don’t really watch a lot of anime. I prefer manga, because it’s too troublesome to do other stuff while watching an anime. :b

Re: What is you favorite anime?
Mhh... I love watching anime but I seldom watch an anime which I read the manga before ^^"
My favorites: all stuff by Satoshi Kon: Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, etc. all stuff by Yoshitoshi ABE: SE Lain, Haibane Renmei, Texhnolyze and of course all stuff by Ghibli: especially Tonari no Totoro, Omohide Poro Poro, Mimi wo Sumaseba and... Kino no Tabi, too. I just love thoughtful stuff more than fantasy.^-^

Re: What is you favorite anime?
It's hard to say since I'm a little new (only got into it in 2007), but I think Azumanga Daioh will stand the test of time. Possibly also Death Note, Elfen Lied, Welcome to the NHK, Lucky Star, and Black Lagoon.
Of what I've watched recently/only once, Code Geass is pretty damn good. Ghost Hound, Higurashi, and Moribito were all good too.
I guess I dabble in basically every genre. I haven't seen any really classic pure romances yet, though.

Re: What is you favorite anime?
Ghost in the Shell, Mushishi, Cowboy Bebop, Ergo Proxy, and Kino's Journey are around the top of my list along with some Ghibli films. I don't watch nearly as much as I read manga series.

Mushishi is great. I'm currently watching Kino's Journey but somehow I accidentally deleted the link I bookmarked. Can you tell me where did you watch it? I have a hard time looking for it online.
