Post Hiki Budgets
Aside from the massive pain that is acquiring enough money to keep up a reclusive lifestyle (apparently these days caves on secluded mountainsides are at a premium, for some reason...), there is the issue of how exactly the money gets spent. While there's been a few topics on how we recluses get our money, what I want to know is how we manage it. Are you a spender or a saver? What items get priority in your budget? Are you good at managing your money, or has your inability to handle it forced you out of your reclusive existence a lot more than you'd like?

Feel free to illustrate your point with a pie chart, like so:

Image

Yes, I am a horrible (wo)man-child. Your point? :neutral

I'm terrible at saving money, but the bills manage to get paid every month, so I suppose I've still got my head above water. I can be pretty thrifty, though, at least when it comes to spending less money on "necessities" so that there's more money kicking around for merch...

Like many a teacher has said, I've got the right skills, I just apply them in all the wrong ways.

How did you guys make those charts? I want to make a chart!

Most of my money goes towards food. Holy crap, the amount I spend on food is ridiculous.

Other than that, I have the normal spending habits of any university student. I am capable of saving, but only if I have a goal and a set salary earned monthly. If not, I just spend whenever I have the cash or credit.

Nowadays, my spending goes towards (in chronological order):

1) Food
2) Cat supplies (ie: toys, food, litter)
3) Travel
4) Bills
5) Clothes
6) Activities

I'm mostly a saver, which is kinda pointless seeing as the amounts of money I manage to save as I don't get much are nothing,
when I could spend it on things I want...

But since I got my computer I've not really wanted much more as it entertains me enough :p

But generally I'm just not much of a spender, as I tend to get bored of stuff quite quickly, when stuff like meeting friends would make me feel much better...

Converted into $, I don't spend more than 1,50- on a meal. So basically, an illustration of nothingness, when I look at it.

True story (almost). Seriously, we're willing to sacrifice a week's worth of food for weed most of the time.

I don't have any out-goings really, I basically just sponge off my parents. I do have a little bit of money that I've built up over the years, I never really buy anything though other than the occasional video game. I've never been somebody to spend money as soon as I get it, I'm not sure if I'm a saver or just a tight-ass. But recently I've just started becoming aware of inflation, which has made me question what's the point of burrowing money away if in x amount of years is going to be worth less.

If I'm gone for a week, don't fret HikiCulture.
If I'm gone for a month, it's no big deal.
If six months pass by, something is up.
If I'm gone for a year, assume that I am dead.

1. Bills
2. Food - Health Supplements - Occasional meds
3. Anime - Movies
4. Savings.

No budget do not know. The work so far I have not even. Parents have the budget. For me this is a problem in the ass. Hiki not have much money, we are economical, but the food has always been enough for someone. Other things I care about it less. Money, money, money. Always in them problems when they are not enough. Spend money on more necessary things. Anime do not buy, for that torrents are (pirates not secured hiki friends) do not have large savings associated with the costs in this period. Pay bills on time. Games are not interested, all tired. If it is good to think, hiki can save a lot of money for a rainy day. The budget is a controversial topic, it spends as everyone wants. Yet much depends on which country you live. I personally economical hiki. In clothing spend a large share of the budget. Cursed be the day I was born in this state.

Rundown:

I work 30-4o hours per week at a job that pays me 7.50 per hour. My electric bill runs at about 170-200 per month. Groceries for three people whom live here total (myself included) runs at about 175-200 a week. So, about once every three weeks, my bank account looks horrid. Meaning, 3/4 of my earned income goes simply to living and supporting two other people...my girlfriend, who is employed, but on call....and my roommate, recently single because her ex boyfriend broke her wrist and we took her in to get her away from him and she can't really work anywhere yet until her wrist heals...so for a few months, it's MOSTLY on me. Which, I'm okay with, it just sucks sometimes...It's depressing, because I need health insurance and whatnot, and can't afford it because all of my money goes to food and electric. Whatever's left over gets divided by laundry money and whatever we missed at the store for a higher price of a convience store...we no longer have a car, nearest grocery store is a half mile away over topography (Northern Florida, I'm from Central FL, where it's all flat ground).

That's really stressful living and a really low wage to provide for three people. I admire your tenacity and hope the next few months go over relatively smoothly. You're really noble, helping others sometimes at your own expense. Pray you don't get injured before you get health insurance.

:cool I finally have enough data to make graphs :P with my real budget data... :unsure... it is a bit upsetting to me.. This is just Jan of 2012 to now. Then again this may not be too accurate because I tend to place stuff from other budgets that have gone over to budgets I am not using... Hmmmm :unsure
