If you discovered a simple way to make counterfeit money that couldn't possibly be detected as being counterfeit, would you shamelessly produce it and use it and never bother getting a job?

You'd eventually get caught, and you'd simply be decreasing the value of the dollar.

I wouldn't find something like this to be too unethical, to be honest. If it would be 100% impossible for anyone to discover the money to be fake, this wouldn't cause anyone a problem, really.

I have a slightly unethical ne'er-d0-well streak, though. Theft has always been highly appealing to me, but being a pussy has always kept me from pursuing it. But counterfeiting is not quite as scary, so yes, if I could do it and make it believable, I'd at least give it a go.

Using fake money that couldn't be proven to be fake wouldn't truly be theft IMO. Sure - when buying stuff you'd be paying with fake money that would be useless to people if it was discovered to be fake, but the money wouldn't be useless to people you gave the money to if it was 100% identical to normal currency.

Fun fact: You can't open scanned images of paper money in Photoshop. This is to prevent you from creating counterfeit paper money. I think there's a workaround to this though.

Yes, what separates 'real' money from 'fake' money? It's all just pieces of paper given false value. I wouldn't feel that it was immoral or wrong. I would only do it if I was sure I would never get caught though.

You'd have a lot of trouble making major purchases. I don't even think you could buy a car for cash(from a dealer) and if you started depositing huge amounts of cash in a bank the government would be breathing down your neck in no time.
I'd use it to slowly supplement my income and buy as much crap for cash as I could.

pretty much everything i was going to say. i don't know if i would launder the money myself or not. for major purchases there would have to be slight care in handling them, and it would be easier to go with cash only sales from the owner and never have anything on paper. there's a lot of illegal activity here in vegas and there have bee plenty of examples of the IRS seeing that mr. guy claimed forty thousand last years but owns two brand new bmws registered to him, and a five bedroom house with a mortgage in his name, then they have whoever look just a tiny bit underneath the surface for them. it's easy for anyone to see that mr. guy is a fraud and now mr. guy has nothing at all except a jail cell.
so yeah, i'd be living the good life off the books. as fr as anyone else would know i'm just lucky at gambling.

But remember - it can't be proven to be fake. This means that they can't bust you for breaking the law even if they're suspicious of you.

You can technically buy a car in cash--my grandfather's done it at least three times in the past decade--but they give you shady looks. He also bought his house in cash. He could have done a simple bank transfer or check...I think he just wanted to see the look on the realtor's face.

I would use the money to slowly repair my hovel, pay my school bills on time but not pay them off (who cares about interest when you have free money?), and buy infinate animu crap that no one gives a shit about anyway.

I'd be going straight to the pot dealers with it. Buy a pound of weed at once and you'll only be paying about $100 an ounce---here in Ontario at least---and selling an ounce for $100 is pretty much the easiest thing to do in the world. It would be like the equivalent of trying to sell a two-four of beer for $10 - you'd get a lot of "Um fuck yes, I'll take two, and I'll be back tomorrow!" . Thus converting your fake money to real money very easily.

Of course I would go through and counterfeit. I would be a dick about it and counterfeit another country's currency and then have it converted to my country's currency. Of course I would set up some scheme to make it look like all the money is coming from a legit source.

The problem with this is most governments get suspicious of you of you are living and don't have any apparent source of income. I would make sure that I have secured loans for a house and stuff before I quit my job.

I would do it without a doubt (or shame), the only thing i would have a job and get money for would be just to not be left to die of hunger in this society anyway, i don't want to be a millionarie. If i did it, i wouldn't have to worry about anything more than my art.

Or just get some faked documents saying some long lost relative left it to me.
And i'd give the IRS a nice little sum because I have unlimited funds anyway.
They only care about being paid and not at all about tax laws.
