Re: How do you feel about death???
Having had Death knock at my door for the past three and a half years, I have befriended him in means to cope with the ever present feeling of impending doom. My spontaneous desires and impulsive actions have been guided by his ivory hand. He shows no mercy when whispering thoughts in my brain. I can't turn off his voice, it's in my head. I find his looming presence disturbing, but have embraced it all the same for fear of not having him when his time is needed.
Death will always come eventually. Unfortunately, he's arrived early for me and won't leave until he can take me by the hand to a new place where I can call home.

Re: How do you feel about death???
I look at it as neither good nor bad. It simple isn't at all. Death is in my opinion, nothing more than the absence of life and a natural process in which we avoid the damnation of immortality and give room for what comes after us. If you can imagine, to cease to be, then there is nothing to fear about it, from my point of view.
Regarding the matter of suicide or abortion, I share very similar thoughts to SV22's and most likely couldn't have worded any better.
Personally, I don't have a care in my physical presence anymore. It would surely be nice to give my decease some kind of "meaning", yet I wouldn't care either if this will not be granted to me. I just try to make more or less good usage of my remaining time given, until it takes it's toll.

Re: How do you feel about death???
@ Althe, I don't know about your circumstances, but to be honest, I can somehow relate to the impression, I got out of your words. It might be inappropriate to say this, but I actually like the way you stated it.
For me, death has been my only companion over the long course of years and always to travel along my side, resting his hand on my shoulder. I think, death is a pretty stubborn fellow and when got hold of his prey, he is unlikely to let it simply go again and the otherwordly touch lets you slip away from this side more and more as time goes on. To me, it feels like, he's just waiting and I guess, it's all about not to let the breath in your neck influence your actions too much, but I guess, I'm not the one to speak.. I don't know.. the reaper is not grim, just stubborn, I think.
All I can say is, maybe try to use your given time for what you consider worthwile, as it seems to be the only worldly thing opposing him. Best of luck to you on your journey.

It's a state of life. The things that make your existence still exist, just in a different form. Maybe you'll be some air. Maybe some worms.

I think death would not be so scary if it was a giant stuffed teddy bear.

Re: How do you feel about death???
my thoughts on it is this- death isn't always not being alive. quoting lyrics like the faggot i am; is laying here, slowly rotting away any different from a hasty death? ~dead inside emo desuuu~ but really, think about it.
as for the actual not alive part, i always thought it'd be shitty to not see death coming. so i'd rather be murdered or kill myself than dying in my sleep. right now i'm not only too lazy to find a murderer or launch myself from a roof, but i have too much music to listen to. i'm hoping that everything will get better, and i sure as hell have the willpower to do what i want to in life.
i wouldn't be afraid of the pain of suicide either, quoting A Clockwork Orange; "One moment of pain perhaps and, then, sleep for ever, and ever and ever." so really, it's not like you'd know the pain once you're dead.
i don't really condone or condemn death, or killing yourself, or having someone kill you. i say, try making the best out of the life you have, chase the stupidest dreams you have, try to make something out of yourself. if nothing else, you'll find your life has been quite the adventure, even if it was fruitless.

Re: How do you feel about death???
I'm not bothered by death. I hate the way I'm living, so death would be a nice release from this boring hell, but of course I'm too cowardly to take my own life, so I'll just wait patiently until the day comes when I die.

Re: How do you feel about death???
Not bothered by it really. In my mind once I die, I will no longer be around to perceive the world, let alone my own existence, thus once I die everything will cease to exist and will never have existed at all. So this lends to the idea that everyones best chance of survival is to keep me alive at all costs

Re: How do you feel about death???
I'd quote my favorite fellow atheist on this: “Why should I fear death? If I am, death is not. If death is. I am not. Why should I fear that which cannot exist when I do?” -Epicurus Well, dying is another thing.

Re: How do you feel about death???
The thing that fears me most about death, whether heaven exists or not, this current state these memories, these feelings will all be gone, even if you remember life on earth in heaven you'll be blissful and that which mattered here wont matter there. That is the biggest reason I fear death.

Re: How do you feel about death???
Well, I'm ashamed to say... I'm afraid of dieing... Not that I'm close to death... when I actually am I think my opinion will change.
But I am still worried 'cause there are several illnesses in our family and I'm not a healthy person, anyway...
I think I am just worried about leaving someone behind, now, that I have some friends and somene I love... I just don't want to make them sad... And I am worried not to leave anything behind. Something people say 'that's what she did for the world/society/science/etc.
Even though it would make her sad, I want to die in the arms of my loved and for her I also write a journal. So she can still have a little of me when I'm gone in an accident or something like that.
I'm not very religious so maybe that's why I am afraid that... you know... all the lights go out and you just are no longer.

Re: How do you feel about death???
all things will come to an end it is just natural
but I am afraid of dying, because I think there is nothing after death, my existence ist just going to vanish.
