Okay so at GameStop your status with the company pretty much relies on how many preorders and major sells you get in a year. Recently our manager was fired and we got this new scrub that is awkward and totally not fit for the job at all.

I was talking with a couple customers tonight about games they were interested in preordering and the manager told me to work with some customers for him while he took care of something. Sure, I took care of them. I was able to sell them a couple games that were totally overpriced but HEY it's my job.

I looked over and the asshole was setting up the preorders for those two people!! Seriously!? I spent a good 10 minutes explaining how Portal 2 and Gears of War 3 were worth the investment and the Beta for Gears3 and he takes my hard work for himself?! WHAT THE HELL?!

On top of that, he makes fun of me because I'm a minimum waged Game Advisor that only works 2 days out of the week because I'm still in high school and doin dual enrollment. He was bad mouthing my boyfriend for working for the company for 2 years and not ever getting promoted.

After that crap he makes me go rearrange the game walls so they're in alphabetical order and I had to change some display stuff BY MYSELF. That is THOUSANDS of games and he just sat there drinking the Starbucks coffee I PAID FOR HIM!!

Sorry your manager took advantage of your work in such a manner. You are right to be angry. Don't worry about wasting space, this the school and work section so your post easily fits within the topic.

That's a fucked up system to begin with, especially if "status" means "paycheck." I can see why the company would do things like that, but maybe they didn't consider that it fosters competition instead of teamwork. Maybe someone knows more about the details of they consoles (major sells) but just has a few favorite online games and someone else plays a ton of single-player games or something.

This seems like the most important complaint. There's no excuse; it's unprofessional on his part... Maybe he'll get fired soon.

I have an evil plan:

Get people you know to call head office and tell them they had such a bad experience with him that they want to make a complaint to his boss. If like two or three "customers" do this over the course of a couple weeks, I'm sure he'll get let go.

Normally I wouldn't think to do something that evil, but I can tell that he's one of those kinds of people that I absolutely loathe!

Sadly there are plenty of pricks out there who will do what you described. That is the problem with a sales based job... well any job. My roommate took over my job and he is always trying to pass off my thoughts as his own.

You are clearly smarter than this guy. Next time he asks you to handle customers do a poor job. As long as your personal record is good he cannot say anything.

maybe I will borrow this thread to rant about the stupidity of my company. My companies senior management wants the company to make 500 million dollars a year by the end of 2013 I think. Yet they do not provide us with any insight on how they think we should do it. They just said GO.
