 What headphones do you use?
What headphones do you use? I'm likely one of the few here who uses shit phones. I spend so much time listening to music on my headphones, yet they suck. Why do I use these? I won't even mention the brand/model of my headphones - that's how bad they are. I've been using them since high-school and they have duct tape on them because they've fallen apart many times already. I want to get rid of these old clunkers and get a pair of high-end phones. I've done some research on headphones. These are two pairs of headphones I'm considering getting: Anyone hear of those phones before? The Portapros are much cheaper than the ATH50S, but I still don't know if I want excellent headphones or . . . less excellent ones. The Portapros are considered by many as being some of the best "bang for your buck" phones out there but those ATH50S sound so damn perfect. What I mostly want are phones that have lots of clarity and aren't too bass-heavy; I'm not a big fan of bass. I know that the Portapros look kind of geeky and old-school but looks don't matter to me when it comes to electronic devices. But I actually don't mind the look of them - they look rather unique. I might get them and be content with them for now since they're cheap and are highly regarded by most audiophiles despite having a cheap price tag. Hmm, but I still don't know! I remember creating a thread here ages ago asking you if you prefer to play your music through speakers or headphones and the majority of you voted "headphones" so hopefully some people will reply to this thread. I'm really curious to see what you folks use.

Re: What headphones do you use?
I use Koss ur29. These headphones are large enough to cover my ears and yet don't look clunky, are relatively inexpensive and play music real well. However, note that these headphones are not noise cancelling, although they should be labelled as for how well I manage to block out everything. They're really great, I'd suggest them for overall quality without being ridiculously expensive. I'd also suggest sennheisers for hi-qual hi-qual headphones, they're worth the price in the upper levels of quality fo sho.

Re: What headphones do you use?
Those look like excellent choices for a headphones upgrade Stool, although I would be a bit wary of how comfortable the Koss ones are since I listen to music through headphones all of the time - but then, they may well be worth it for the price. I can't remember the make of the headphones I had before, but they were open headphones and were very comfy with good sound quality. After they broke, I was fortunate enough to be given two sets of headphones by my cousin who no longer wanted them - Sony MDR-V150s and Sennheiser px200s. The sony ones sound quite crap and muddy to my ears, but I can't complain with the Senns, which sound fairly decent. I gave the sonys to my younger brother The px200s are great noise reduction-wise too and fit nicely over my ears. If I had some money to spend, I would love to get some new big ass 'phones, but for now, I'm happy. They come with a snazzy little case, which I never use unless I'm travelling somewhere:

Beyerdynamic DT 990. I should be using them with a headphone amp, but I haven't gotten around to ordering one.

Re: What headphones do you use?
JBuds J3 is what I use with my iPod. They're alright. There's not much you're going to get at that price range and they look nifty, and also the cord is metal and somewhat more kitten claw proof than rubber, which is what my last pair of Creative's fell to. Koss KSC75. Same as the Portapros, but portable. Ugly as hell, which is why I don't wear them in public. They sound delightful, though. Gamecom 367. This is what I use at my computer. Don't sound too great, but comfy as fuck. I'm emotionally attached to them since I had them on for like 12 hours a day during that epic Mass Effect marathon thing over Christmas break...>>

Re: What headphones do you use?
I'm going to get the Koss Portapros; I can't go wrong with them. People who've spent thousands of dollars on headphones told me that the Portapros are among their favorite phones and that they prefer them to some pairs of headphones they own that cost them three and even four times as money money as the Portapros. And another thing that makes them seem promising is the fact that they have a lifetime warranty.
I'll buy them, along with a few other things, on Friday when my PayPal account will have more funds in it.
I'll likely get the Audio-Technica ATH-M50S in the future when I have a bit more money to blow. I think I'll also get a headphone amp to use with them t0 allow for higher volume and better sound quality.

Re: What headphones do you use?
Looks like everyone here uses good headphones.
I just have a cheap pair I picked up at rite aid and only use them on my computer when I want to listen to something louder since the apartment has thin walls. I can't find a picture of them but they are comfortable and not bad for how often I use them.

Re: What headphones do you use?
Currently my favourite headphones that I own are the Sennheiser HD650's. They really are excellent headphones. They have a very balanced and open sound (they weren't muffled and boxy sounding like my cheap old Sony headphones I once used), and they're comfortable. They really should be used with a headphone amplifier but you can get away without it. They aren't exactly cheap. I got lucky finding a pair that had the tiniest scratch on the frame, which apparently was bad enough to knock £80 off the price. If they were to break, I'd definitely consider buying another pair.

Re: What headphones do you use?
These sound awesome; I used to have a pair. They have the cool feature where you can push one ear back... or it's cool until that pivot point begins to crack and eventually breaks. or that's what happened to mine, anyway. I've just been using $10 Sony earbuds since I was moving around a lot. I think I'd get speakers before headphones.

Re: What headphones do you use?
I like headphones because the music is just in your ear. Speakers just aren't up close and personal enough. I want new headphones. These ones are great, I like them, but I want better ones.

Horrible ones, they were only 1,40 euros or so. My earphones were 70 cents, and I ordered Hello Kitty earphones on Ebay for 90 cents.
