 Resume advising
So I am officially going to start looking for a new job. I am tired of my current job and want to move on. I know that a lot of us are looking for jobs as well. So I figured I would make this thread to get help on resumes. I get terrible writers block when writing resumes. So a lot of the time my resumes can appear confusing. So this is one thing I like to get a lot of eyes on. You know, have someone check grammar and spelling. As well as make sure the resume sounds professional. Feel free to discuss why something sounds professional and why something else may not. I am at work right now, so I cannot start writing my resume just yet. However, later I will at least get something up. Also please keep all personal info out of here. Only post info about your experience and knowledge. No addresses, phone numbers, emails, etcetera. working may suck but it is something that has to be done. So lets help each other

 Re: Resume advising
all i know is from my husband, but heres some tips that may be helpful. hopefully you don't know them all already. use a page layout and colors that are unusual, because employers have seen what windows word looks like a hundred times over. this is your chance to stick out. keep it to one page, and don't list job duties just your employer's info and your job title. list any achievements that employers eat up like Eagle Scout or volunteer. always list your college / university diploma, or other certifications. hell even if it's incomplete college it looks better than just high school diploma.

 Re: Resume advising
I find it challenging making it stretch to one page.

 Re: Resume advising
Increasing font size can sometimes help.

 Re: Resume advising
I find that I either write too much or too little.

 Re: Resume advising
A resume can be longer than one page. At least, that's what they told me at the job center. As long as you don't make it longer than two pages. They also told me to add a profile at the top, a few sentences that tell who you are and what your skills and strong points are.
