How do you watch your films?

I used to watch DVDs, both burnt and retail discs, through my DVD player on my old TV. Now what I do is download films, either 1:1 untouched DVD-Rs or high-quality encodes, and watch them on my computer through the great video player Media Player Classic - Home Cinema which is constantly updated (unlike the original) and has nice useful features. I also watch retail discs through my computer, though I haven't bothered to buy any DVDs for ages.

The main reasons I watch films on my computer is because:

1. Computers allow you to watch both NTSC and PAL DVDs (very few DVD players allow you to watch both NTSC and PAL films. My DVD player, like 95%+ of DVD players sold in North America, is NTSC).
2. My computer has vastly superior speakers than my TV (I used to hook up my speakers to my TV, but that's a pain in the ass since it requires me to hook them back up to my computer when I'm finished watching a film).
3. Most films on torrent sites can only be found as AVIs or other encoded formats which look blocky when watched on a TV screen (this is assuming that you burn them to discs and watch them on your TV).

I voted for both "I watch DVDs on my computer" and "I download encoded films (avi. mkv. etc.) and watch them on my computer" since I never use streaming sites and haven't watched a film on my TV for years.

I watch my films in the quiet of my room, during a sweet evening, and then rest right afterwards.

I don't really watch movies, but if I do bother to do so, I will most likely download an mpg or avi or something.

I try to download DVD ISOs or Blu Ray rips if available, though it's hard to find some things, not being a member of any good private sites. I occasionally rip DVDs myself.
I generally watch HD video on my monitor, and either burn the standard definition stuff to DVD or watch it on a TV which is hooked to my video card.

I watch them on streaming sites. My internet connection isn't very fast, so downloading would take a lot of time. It's easier just to watch them online. And I don't have a DVD player, so I would have to watch them on my computer anyway.

I prefer watching DVDs on TV because I can lay around on my bed. So comfortable.

But yeah, since I have a lot of NTSC movies from Asia I have to watch them on my notebook. That means I have to sit on my chair and ... because it won't work in bed. It sucks to have the hot notebook on your legs all the time and not be able to move around.

I should buy a multi region Blu-Ray player which can also play DVDs from every region...

I might watch them online but usually I'll just download them from rapidshare or torrents. The only problem is the lack of hard drive space I have lately.

I prefer watching my movies on my TV, if I can't help it. I just like to multitask sometimes during a movie.

Bluray seems minuscule in quality difference from DVD. But then again, I don't have a HD TV.

If I'm gone for a week, don't fret HikiCulture.
If I'm gone for a month, it's no big deal.
If six months pass by, something is up.
If I'm gone for a year, assume that I am dead.

It's a big improvement over DVD. There won't be a superior format to Blu-Ray for a long time though. It simply can't get much better.

I just watch them on tv. I used to get a lot of dvds but haven't really bothered in the last year. Seems silly to spend £15 on a dvd of a film that I'd only watch once, when if I wait another couple of months it'll show on Sky.

I download encoded films and stream them to my Xbox to watch them on TV. The quality is diminished and I know it's not true HD, but it looks good enough for me and my shitty vision.

I have a "WD TV Media Player" hooked up to my TV. It plays virtually any video format straight from a hard drive.

I download encoded BluRay rips and watch them either on my computer or on my TV, which is hooked up to my computer through HDMI. If I don't particularly care about the movie or if I can't find it in HD, I'll watch a DVD-rip, but the quality difference is huge. I realy don't like watching anything standard def anymore. It looks totally garish on my TV and monitor, which are both HD. It really sucks with old PSX games because it looks crappy no matter what you do. PS2 games can be played in 1080p with an emulator and they look beautiful, but PSX just looks like shit.

I've downloaded whole Blu-Rays before but they're so huge that it's not worth it. I've only got a 500GB HDD at the moment

"I watch DVDs on my TV" & "Other"

I also download movies, usually via torrent, then convert them to DVD format & burn them to a dvd to watch on my TV.

50% of the time i either buy them as DVD at a local store or download them all through the Xbox 360 via Netflix or Zune.
