 Re: Minecraft
Yea I used to play this a lot, I played it religiously with some friends a while ago, but I stopped. I wish I have a good connection and computer, I'd host a server.
It's a pretty great and addictive game when you have something to build. It's great to see Notch keeps updating it too.
Though I kind of got sick of fighting zombies and creepers, I like building stuff instead.

 Re: Minecraft
I also play minecraft, i made a lair/base of operations with various "functions" and trap doors and glass roofs and lights behind walls or glasses, inside a mountain with 2 floors and an access to a mine (i put a sign inside that says "Phantom's Lair"), lately i also put a fenced farm alongside a small fenced lake near one of the three exits my lair has, and a settlement a bit to the north in a hill, i sometimes adventure at night in the wild with my diamond sword and bow, it's really a cool game and very original.

 Re: Minecraft
Been playing it for a while now. Though I must say I am more thinking about how I will build it then actually playing it.
Currently have build a HUGE railway system with 4 huge stations, 2 automated cart storages and around 5 running mine trains =D Around 4 farms, 1 automated cactus-farm and around 9 mines of which one the Size of the moon. A lot of buildings and more resources then I can swing a pickaxe at.
I must say its a pretty nice game but I feel it is starting to lack things...

 Re: Minecraft
And that's where mods come in. Bukkit if you play SMP--which really it's the way to play it. Why build a fully functional city if no one can appreciate it or burn it to the ground? As for single player mods... I can't think of any sites offhand. Official forums, though, I bet.

 Re: Minecraft
meh. I'd have to be suicidal bored to really get on anymore. a friend of mine closed down his server few weeks ago.
and I don't play with mods. I prefer to gather all my own items. Since there are no goals.. I get an accomplishment out of something. which is the only reason I'd play any game period.
but my biggest complaint is that it's to hard to make stuff. to complicated. to make it better they should.. instead say at a workbench. Instead of setting up the items in a specific order to create the item. should be that if you have all the required items.. you should be able to automatically create the item with 1 click.
just my 2 cents.

 Re: Minecraft
A good friend of mine. (one of my last rl friends) found out he play(ed) like me. We both got a whole new look on the game and revived our playing.
We don't have any steady server to play on together so we've just been randomly hopping servers to anyone who'd take us..
We forget about Teamspeak. Don't want to chat with them so We've been using Ventrilo. and been having a great time! (we leave our crappy safe house for 2mins.. and a skully got in! I had my friend Arthur pose for the screen shot)

 Re: Minecraft
1.8 is pretty neat. Don't get the whole killing mobs and getting orbs and such, but whatever.
I also figured in creative mode, if I just had all my items without having to gather and create myself, I'd be more open in making great constructions. Turns out it's just my poor imagination.
Still no clue what to build.
" I strongly believe that all good stories have a conflict. Free building mode is fine and dandy, but for many people it will ultimately become boring once you've got it figured out. It's like playing a first person shooter in god mode, or giving yourself infinite funds in a strategy game.. a lack of challenge kills the fun. That also means I'm going to have to include some way of winning the game (or some other climax) to prevent it becoming too exhausting. "
- Notch
Exactly...
