Re: What medication are you on
I was/am taking 40mg of propranalol (beater-blocker) every 3 hours or so on stressful days. It works to an extent, my heart wont pound during an anxiety attack, but I still get butterfly's in my stomach and total body/environment disassociation. I've taken up to 3 at a time before, so thats 120mg, but I really wouldn't recommend it since it just makes the disassociation worse. My doc just started me on citalopram (anti-depressant). For the first month I am taking 10mg, and then it will get stepped up to 20mg as the regular dose. I am half way through week three of my course, and most of the initial side-effects have subsided. I was really dizzy for a few hours each time after taking them at first, I had some headaches and my hands and feet would tremble. To be honest none of it was really that bad, there are lots of scare story's on the Internet about the side-effects but so far I have had quite an easy time. I did have on a few occasions fucked up vision, like my eyes would suddenly defocus for a few mins or all the colors would intensify. I will most likely get some more side-effects when I step up to the 20mg dose. I was worried at first that I wouldn't feel like myself after I started taking them, like I might become some strange alter-ego of myself. That hasn't happened thank god, . I feel perfectly like myself, but I do however feel already like the edge has been taken off my anxiey and depression. I do not take as much of the propranalol, some days I do not even touch it. I feel just like a more self confident version of myself, like a little bit of fire has been put back into my personalty that had died out years ago. Recently there have been a few incidents that have come up that I know would have usually triggered an anxiety attack but... I didn't have one. My mind wasn't getting in a twist thinking about what I was going to say, how I was acting, etc... I just talked back as myself, without feeling weird. So far it seems promising....

Re: What medication are you on
currently none or at least not on a regular basis.I was on propranalol 40mg 3 times a day for anxiaty it worked but i didnt like what it did to my mental capacitys, realy my inteligenge is all ive got so i slowly tapered of taking them because i couldnt stand being so slow witted. Ive still got them but their for taking on an ocational basis before any events that are particularly anxiaty inducing or if i have a panic attack so i always have a few on me but i try not to take them more than a couple of times a week but when i started taking them it probly saved my life i was in a bad way at the time i was having multiple panic attacks every day i couldnt have gone on like that or i wouldnt have considered going to the doctors i have something of a phobia of doctors in general. i was on them fulltime for about 6months which is way above what they recomend usualy theyll only perscribe a 2 month course at a time in the uk but i had other health isues going on, i had tonsilitus 3 times in 2 months and then i had a-level exams to go to so in the end i didnt come off them untill the summer holidays. Anyway their a good way of stoping panic attacks they slow the heart rate so its not physicaly possible to panic and without the physical symtoms the mental panic will go awy a lot quicker.

Re: What medication are you on
Currently: Abilify - 10mg, Lamictal - 100mg and I'm supposed to be taking 1mg of Risperdal but I'm too lazy to go get the refill. Used to: Seroquil, Zoloft, Trazodone.
I don't even know if any of this stuff is working, but, we'll see. I wish she'd put me back onto an antidepressant that isn't Zoloft, and a legit sleeping pill. /sigh

Re: What medication are you on
I still take propranalol occasionally, I hadn't noticed any side effects like what you describe. I did end up feeling really dizzy if I had loads of anxiety while having taken them. It doesn't sounds nice for you if they slow your mind down. I did in fact notice that I became more quick witted and had more energy when I stopped taking them, so perhaps I just didn't notice their effect on me. I'll have to keep this in mind next time i take them...

Re: What medication are you on
My doctor recently prescribed me Lamotrigine as a mood stabilizer, but I have yet to take it. The problem I have is the fact that the ONLY reason this idiot prescribed me it is because I mentioned I have some moments where I can go from feeling depressed to happy. If he would have actually taken a few more minutes to ask me more questions I would have explained that it's not serious enough to where I would need to take medication. God my doctor is such a fucking pill pusher. I hate it. Anyway if any of you guys have taken this medication I'd like to know how it was because I haven't completely written it off just yet. I think it's just more of a depression thing though. He has me on anxiety medication when really I think I would be better off if I was taking medication for depression instead.

Re: What medication are you on.
That sounds wonderful. Now I just have to figure out where to get it. I once received a valium injection, and, as sad and alarming as it may be, those have been the best few hours in my life... Of course problem solving is much more rewarding. *cough* My first SSRI was Fluoxetin (Prozac in America) at age 14. I tried it, but my body didn't tolerate it and I quit after just 2 weeks. I made a second attempt at age 22, with the same results of course. The third prescription was Citalopram at age 28. For more than 2 months I forced myself to swallow this sh... suffering from some severe adverse reactions. After just a few days I developed and was diagnosed with a serious gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, which had to be treated with another medication (omeprazole) which added a few more adverse reactions. I suffered from constant nausea, dizziness, myoclonic twitches, headaches and my eyes used to flicker in an odd way, making it hard to read. I felt like a zombie with uncontrolled nervous spasms. None of this became any better with time, and above all my depression was completely unaffected. If anything it became worse due to permanently feeling extremely miserable. The situation reached it's climax when I became psychotic one evening, a condition I had never before and have never since experienced. That was the moment I was fed up by this little experiment of fiddling with the biochemistry of my brain and quit the medication, at least the SSRI, because the SSRI-induced gastro-oesophageal reflux disease remained of course. When I discussed this with my doctor he was impertinent enough to assume he could just drug me with something stronger. I refused, telling him it was crazy enough to take two medications of which one only has to be taken to make the other one applicable at all - and at what cost. Since then I have done a lot of research about SSRIs. Never ever again would I swallow antidepressants. Never. I prefer exercise, routine and taking care better of myself instead.

Re: What medication are you on
Currently i am on Abilify and since a few weeks on Ritalin.
I have to say, i think Ritalin is about the best medication you can get if you are a Hikikomori. I am super focused and the hours just fly by without you even noticing it. To me it looks like it was just a moment ago that it was 5 pm, and now its almost 7 pm.

Re: What medication are you on
Watch out for the death rash ahahahaha I'm on...150mg of it now? Yeah. 150. I got prescribed it because...uh...I have intervals of severe depression almost daily, along with periods of less severe crap, so, I guess they want to level me out instead of having me bounce around at extremes? Whatever. For the first two weeks I was on it I was pretty nauseous, but I was bumped up from 50 to 100mg of Pristiq at the same time so I can't really reliably say which one was making me sick. It went away, though, but your results may vary. I have an extremely high tolerance level for most drugs, so, everything with a grain of salt. Current cocktail is: 150mg lamotrigine, 100mg pristiq xr, 3-6mg ativan, and birth control. Also buckets of tylenol/excedrin. My liver fucking hates me. It all doesn't make me feel much better, but it does keep me from getting worse, if that makes any sense. Before I was on any meds, the depression just kept getting worse and worse to the point that I'm pretty sure I'd be dead now if I hadn't managed to find something to keep the bottom of the world from falling out on me. Now the depression gets better and worse at turns, but it all hovers around a baseline of sadness that is shitty but probably not going to kill me within the decade...though I'm guessing dealing with this shit for more than another ten years would put me over the edge. The psych meds actually do less to me than the goddamn hormones...those things mess me up. But the alternative is bleeding for 5-6 months straight again, so...yeah.

I actually never ended up taking the Lamotrigine I was prescribed and it's been months now and I haven't told my doctor yet. I'm sure he's going to be pissed once he finds out he's been prescribing me medication that I haven't been taking. I just don't think I really need it. I think I need more of an anti-depressant than a mood stabilizer. My mood is a little off sometimes, but I don't think it's severe enough to where I would need a mood stabilizer. I'm just depressed a lot and I think an anti-depressant would help a lot.

Re: What medication are you on
I take a vitamin every morning IF THAT COUNTS.
I refuse to take medication unless it is absolutely necessary to do so in order for me to survive. (Assuming that surviving is worth it)
I will take the occasional headache/pain reliever or maybe an allergy medicine.
I am pretty opposed to modern psychiatry.

I started taking Pregablin 150mg for anxiety, it's definitely doing something. I feel different.

Re: What medication are you on
I was addicted to zolpidem (sleepeasy in uk) tablets a while back. The doctor also proscribed zolpiclone and ambien, which i do think are also available OTC. The zolpiclones are more fun since they made me loose my balance and sense of direction. I'm a real light weight with any drugs. I suppose it would be cool to try them all at the same time, but I wont be trying that any time soon I hope since I've been going straight recently.

I'm on 120 mg of Cymbalta for depression and birth control. I don't know if Cymbalta has worked for me or if I've just naturally gotten less depressed over the past 2 years. I've also been on Prozac, Abilify, and other mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, and anxiety medications.

I'm currently only on Ritalin at the moment. I was taking some antipsychotics and SSRIs but I decided to stop taking them. They messed with my mind and libido too much.

I tried prozac, but that's all. It did absolutely nothing for me. And I don't feel like being on medications, that's not for me. I don't like an idea that something will control my feelings.

Re: What medication are you on
Im currently on 6mg Respiridone... though my shrink wants to bring that back down to 4mg or 5mg... but I think that if I do I wont get much sleep for a while
Im gonna ask for a SSRI for anxiety when I next see her... hopefully I'll get prescribed Luvox.
Have been on: 30mg(I think or was it 60mg)Olanzapine, 600mg Serequel(both which i wouldnt mind going back on so i can sleep the days away), Abilify(hated, didnt stay on for long).
Meds when i was classed as depressed: Prozac (loved, made me a bit hyper though), Zoloft, Celexa.
Ive self medicated with Valium(10-100mg), Etizolam(0.5-4mg), Xanax, Klonopin in the past too.
Sleeps becoming a bit of an issue, not the falling to sleep but staying asleep. might ask to go back on Serequel.
