 Song of the Week (SotW)
Every week, I'm going to put my current favorite song in my signature. I'll do this every Sunday. If you like a particular song that I choose to make a song of the week, comment on it here. If you want to start doing the same, I suggest that you upload your files to either FileDen or BoxSTR as they offer direct-linking to MP3 files which means that you can embed MP3s that are hosted from those sites. Please don't embed YouTube videos in your signatures as they're far too large to stick into signatures. Perhaps we can comment on each others songs? Could be fun. Is anyone interested? One thing to add: If you guys have difficulty selecting a song of the week, you can simply make your song of the week your most listened-to track of the week on Last.fm (that's, of course, assuming that you're on Last.fm). Just a suggestion.

That song is awesome Chair, I really like the feel of it. Now I want to dig up some more of their music I'll add a song to my sig once I finally decide on one.

 Re: Song of the week
What a cool idea. I'll get right on it. That's a cool JAMC song. Although I always found it funny that the majority of their songs start with the same drum style. Me thinks they listen to Phil Spector, alot. Kick...Kick-Kick.Snare Kick...Kick-Kick.Snare

 Re: Song of the week
Hmm, doesn't seem to be able to play back .wma files. Bit of a pest, seeing as the majority of my music is in that format. What to do?

 Re: Song of the week
I'd use dbPowerAmp. It's the best audio format converter. Converting a WMA file to MP3 format would cause generation loss which means you'd lose a bit of quality, but in some cases you have no choice but to make destructive conversions.

Thanks for showing those links I've always wondered how you got mp3's on the site. I'm not doing the song of the week thing, but I'm glad I was able to put an mp3 in my signature.

 Re: Song of the week
Thanks for the advice. I should have read this earlier but I used a program called switch. It seemed to do job effectively. I was worried about the audio fidelity being lowered as well - seeing as it's converting one lossy format to another. You're right, guess I have no choice but to let that go.

 Re: Song of the week
Glad you like, glad you like! (^_^) I remember reading a review about them (him?) ages ago describing it as cross between Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine, and my initial reaction was "Sounds great to me!". So I bought it instantly. When I was in the local independent record shop awhile back I found their EP there being sold secondhand for 50p. Bargain! Not sure what you meant by the poor sound quality. If it's the track I put up, then yeah, that's my bad. Had to convert it from .wma to .mp3, so it was inevitable that it would sound crap. If it's their album/EP, it does have a certain lofi-ness about it, but I'm ok with that - I can gloss over that quite easily. Hopefully you'll join in with the song of the week, I like your style. (^_^) XBlackyIs that the same Eiffel 65 that did that Blue song? Normally I have a pretty high tolerance for cheese but that song pissed me off something rotten. That Move Your Body song is more tolerable, although I really do like the synths that appear at 1:04 - 1:20, and throughout other parts of the song, they sound so cool. I wonder what they used?

 Re: Song of the week
Great song BLT. Seriously, I've found a lot of artists/bands that I really like but would've never listened to had I not seen them on this site Well it's taken me over a week to pick my song of the week...well, I forgot and just remembered about ten minutes ago Anyways, I chose Just What I Needed by The Cars. It was a close tie between that and Free Fallin' by Tom Petty

 Re: Song of the week
I'm liking BLT's, ShiroC's and Chair's picks. I'm not into XBlacky's song. I remember hating that Blue song back in the day, haha. Nostalgic hate is a pretty weird sensation.
My song of the week is by Bongripper and I enjoy it. That is all.

 Re: Song of the week
Glad you chose The Cars. Godammit ShiroC! Is there any song you've posted that I can award a score lower than 7/10? Just found out that Ric Ocasek was involved in the production of Weezer's Blue Album. Now that cool! I don't have anything against that Tom Petty song, but I just don't understand why it's one of his most popular songs. It's ok and nothing more. He has written and recorded much better ones then that. Oh well...subjective opinion and all that. Anyway, today will be the last chance to listen to my song of the week. It's a tough choice for the next one. It's the same song, but one's a demo and the other is the final version of the song. They both sound a little different from each other but I like them both. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....decisions, decisions.

 Re: Song of the week
Thanks. I remember both Blue and Move Your Body. They used to always play those songs at my school dances. Eiffel 65 definitely isn't something I'd listen to now, but I quite liked them when I was young. I think it's a good song, but I find that Tom Petty's best songs are on Damn the Torpedoes. Nothing else he put out compare to the songs on that album.

 Re: Song of the week
Alright. Time for a new song of the week! I've chosen Mahimura Girl by Number Girl. I bought their compilation awhile ago (Omoide In My Head 1) and it was the best "I don't know anything about this band, but I'll buy it anyway."-style purchase I've done. I've always liked this song but I also really like the demo version that's on Omoide In My Head 4. It's much more lofi - being a demo ofcourse, duh! - but it has a certain charm that I like, it sounds quite sweet compared to the heavier album version. I must admit I'm starting to dislike this whole "compress and limit everything to fuck"-style mastering that's becoming more common these days, but I guess it's here to stay. (-_-) As I said before, I was quite torn between the two, so I've posted the demo version here just as a comparison between the two. You might prefer this one instead - or hate them both. Number Girl - Mahimura Girl [Tabuchi Hisako version]Thanks for listening to my choice from last week and providing comments. I'll get round to listening to Noisy and Syppress's choice cuts as soon as I can. I going round to my friend's house in a moment and he's a Tom Petty fanatic, so I'll be able to get a shot of it if it's lying around. He did lend a documentary (Running Down A Dream) about them which I found quite excellent. I'm really not that much of a Tom Petty fan, and I was wondering if a 2 DVD documentary would really sustain my interest, but I was proved wrong as I enjoyed it. For the record, Don't Do Me Like That is my favourite Tom Petty song that I've heard.

Re: Song of the Week (SOTW)
I changed my SOTW. It isn't quite Monday yet. Oh well.
My SOTW is I Wanna be Adored by The Stone Roses. I've been listening to a lot of great bands/artists from the 90's/late 80's lately. The Stone Roses are likely my favorite band from the 80's. It's probably because they don't sound like they're from the 80's. I hate a lot of music from the 80's as a lot of it sounds too dated for my liking.

Re: Song of the Week (SOTW)
Neither of those sites likes me. I would quickly run out of songs to post anyways. Everything I listen to seems predictable. I liked BLT's song, Mahimura Girl. Noisy Requiems' wasn't particularly my style however. It wasn't bad, but didn't thrill me either. I like Suedehead's Joy Division track too, they always sound like their about to fall apart during their songs. I couldn't play Chair's unfortunately. Edit: Nina Simone - I loves you Porgy. (I don't think I've been listening to a song as long as this without getting bored of it)

I Wanna be Adored was awesome. Nice choice. I feel like I should try more Stone Roses, I've only heard a few songs by them. (It randomly worked this time)

I just made a song of the week. I'm already planning my song for next week. In my case, I should probably start calling it "Musical of the Week" lol

I thought Galaxie 500 were okay, but that Math Wiz track by Luna sounded much better than the stuff I heard by Galaxie 500. I thought it was great. Hmm, maybe I need to give Galaxie 500 another chance, probably being abit harsh. YES! I love this song.
