 Support worker
Does anyone have one? What's it like? My nurse suggested that he get one for me, and my mum wants me to get one but I'm not sure.

 Re: Support worker
im guessing you mean a "youth support worker"? never had one but noone was interested in my problems to begin with. maybe you should give it a try if your mom and nurse suggest it.

 Re: Support worker
Thanks for your reply. I guess I mean a mental health support worker. I've been suffering from psychotic depression for nearly 10 years now, and I just need to get my life on track with regard to work and a social life.

 Re: Support worker
oh i see, well than its pretty much the same with me. but its only 7 years now. if you think it could help give it a try. may i ask for the cause of your depressions? i think SV22 made a good point, but you shouldnt only ask your nurse but maybe also your mom and yourself to what you can expect from that support worker. if you dont want to change you dont need a support worker, that would be a horrible waste of his/her time. of course thats only an example i think noone wants to be depressed. for me theres noone who can help me with my depression from outside, so its no use to look for help. i already got ssupport from three good friends but it doesnt help it at all.

 Re: Support worker
Thanks, I will take your advice. It's related to a couple of bad experiences on the Internet. I got stalked by a gang of people and had my life threatened, but following that I got into a dispute with someone who really savagely criticised me after a misunderstanding. They my sound like trivial events, and I guess they were, but I suffer from severe social anxiety. The anxiety induced was really overwhelming and I had to move back with my parents. I was completely traumatised and afraid to be alone. The following year I had a breakdown and got sectioned. Then had another breakdown 2 years later, all because of those same events. I haven't been the same since. It seems stupid that a couple of silly disputes on the 'net have caused all this but that's the way it is.

 Re: Support worker
A good definition of hell, IMO. having to go out to places one doesn't wanna go, to do something one doesn't care about at all with someone one doesn't care about at all who is yapping your head off. Shivers... This doesn't seem trivial at all to me.

 Re: Support worker
Sounds like someone trying to help to me. But god forbid they attempt that in a way you don't approve of?

 Re: Support worker
I've never had a support worker. I've had plenty of therapists though.
