I've also been thinking about starting to collect books but since my interests in reading are very limited I don't know where to start. Probably exclusive picture/interior decorating books. Hardcover is a given but first-edition isn't necessary.

I like books, if they're good, but I would still never read a novel. Books I remember enjoying when I was younger was about architecture, among other things. I remember I got a book about Sinan Pascha, the hungarian or whatever he was originally who became the greatest architect in the Ottoman Empire, who created many of the greatest mosques of that time. I like books like that which combine real knowledge and information with high quality imagery, maps and stuff...

Novels are toilet paper for me however.

I really enjoyed The Drowned World, his descriptions of the lagoons and the cloying heat were so fluent; I love that idea of a powerfully hostile world which forces people to adapt.

I'd like to have more hardbacks at least, I don't mind what edition really. I just get paperbacks at the moment with a few hardbacks that I've acquired here and there. The hardbacks look and feel much nicer and I like that you can take the cover off and have them all look uniform.
