Re: Which operating system do you use? i run sabayon gentoo (linux). i let go of windows in 2008. no i'm not a high and mighty linux user. i just really really love linux and compiling. i believe gentoo is my OS soulmate.

Re: Which operating system do you use? Xp pro 32bit at the moment but Im upgrading my OS and cpu for my birthday so I'll be getting Windows 7 64bit so I'll be able to utilize more RAM.

Re: Which operating system do you use? just started using linux recentlty since my laptop with windows got a terrible virus...didn't have any money to fix it so i switched over to Linux, surprisingly it isn't nearly as difficult as i heard it was. Pretty similar to windows, at least the version i'm using. its pretty cool.

Re: Which operating system do you use? I'm still using XP as my primary OS. Many apps I run are Windows-only, and some don't have worthy Linux counterparts, so if Linux was my primary OS, I'd find myself booting Windows up all the time. It'd be silly for me to use Linux to run Windows apps through Wine all the time. However, it would be great to have Linux in addition to Windows to do additional tasks, use less resources, have great security, and have higher customizability. When I get a new computer, I'll install Windows 7 on it, and stick Arch Linux on the computer I'm currently using.    Arch Linux is ideal. It's one of the few Linux distros that fully appeals to me. Windows 7 is also a great. For some reason, it doesn't even feel like Windows.

Re: Which operating system do you use? It depends on the computer that I am currently using.
My Laptop runs Vista x64, but I want to upgrade to Windows 7 x64.
My old desktop runs a dual boot of XP and Kubuntu.
The Laptop handles most of my needs, and the desktop most of my technical needs.
If I want to run a media center software, or download stuff, then I use my desktop. I like to be able to modify my IP tables, which I can't do in XP.

Re: Which operating system do you use? Unfortunately I use Linux Mint now, I had used Mac since I was a child and I'm fond of it so it was somewhat a step for me to change to something else (I had to, no money for an Apple).

Ubuntu Netbook Remix. The move from Windows to Linux is really easy if you only use Firefox and Open Office all day. Sucks for games, natch.

Re: Which operating system do you use? I use everything, honestly, but I chose Windows 7 since it's become the main OS on my main computer. I used Arch Linux as my main OS for a while, but then I wanted to try Windows 7 and it...stuck. I've been meaning to go back to Linux on here, but...I got a new TV, which I have hooked up to this computer through HDMI and I have videos playing on it all the time and it works so flawlessly in Windows. I switched to Sabayon for a bit and...it didn't. But Sabayon sucks in general. Besides that, what's keeping me from Linux is that I want something more plug and play than Arch but not bloated and retarded like Ubuntu and nothing has really caught my eye.
Then on my netbook I run Snow Leopard most of the time. It runs about the same performance wise as Windows 7, which is also on there, but there's something so gratifying about running an Apple OS on a Dell that I can't resist. It also has an empty partition just waiting for Linux, but I'm still searching for a distro. It has a GUID partition table which narrows the playing field a lot, unfortunately.
