I worked from 11 P.M. to 7 A.M. this morning. The graveyard shift, I guess. What a great time I had!

We got attacked by a giant swarm of moths because someone didn't turn the lights off, so they just stuck to the windows, trying to get in. They literally blocked the entire window.

I cleaned, priced stuff, trained, stocked the vault (the cooler for pop and cold stuff), and worked the till. It was really kinda fun. I put myself into Tetris mode when I was stocking. =P

My pay today was $11/hour, and since I worked 8, it's a measly little $88 dollars. But, hey. I had fun, and I'm working with fun people.

The downside is my feet are sore. =(

I didn't think I'd like working, but it's actually kinda fun. Let's see if this trend continues.

I think the graveyard shift is the best shift you can get at a convenience store. I would only work at one if I could do mostly graveyard shifts.

Yeah, $11/hour is pretty good. Canadian dollars, right? I need to look up the equivalent in US dollars... I would kill to make $11/hour right now. And work full-time? I'd be set. I'm proud of and happy for you, man. I hope everything works out for you.

Yeah. Our minimum is $8.80, but 7-11 pays $10 minimum for day shifts and an extra $1 for the night shift. And since the night shift is just restocking, cleaning and prep, it's not that big of a deal. The people I work with are friendly, and after the first day, I feel so happy working there.

Also:

$8.80 (CAD) = $8.50 (USD)

$11.00 (CAD) = $10.70 (USD)

Is that good in relation to your cost of living? Our minimum wage is $7.25. If I worked full-time at that rate, I could probably make it on my own if I really kept an eye on my expenses, but if I had to support anyone else, nuh uh. I wish the minimum wage was set in accordance with how much people need to take care of their families.

$11 CAD = 8 EUR

5 EUR = $6.82 CAD

Man, I have sore feet.

Does anyone have an idea on how to deal with sore feet? I can work for about 5 hours straight, but my feet start to hurt after a while.

hot water + ginseing footbath.

Your feet will get used to it after a while, trust me.

In the meantime try massaging them, or a bath like soulless suggested. Also make sure you are wearing really comfy and supportive shoes.

Good quality shoes can make a world of difference when you're on you're feet all day.

Hey, Midnightlight, congrats man, knew you could do it. I also recommend you getting a pair of comfy shoes if you're going to be on your feet a lot.

I lol'd at "tetris mode" too, I do the same thing when I need to make stuff fit in places. I'm great at packing cars for road trips.
