Re: Guess who just got back from work!
Funny stories from work today: I ended up giving out a marked $5 dollar bill for when the store is robbed. I didn't know any better and my partner got me really worried. Got yelled at (jokingly) that I was talking too long to the people who stop in and talk. A bar slut ended up hitting on me and telling me some things I'd rather not hear again. What an awkward 5 minutes. Some of the stuff she said to me, and my responses:

Re: Guess who just got back from work!
So, some stuff has come up, and I need to leave the job. Home just isn't going so well with me gone most of the time, and I'm feeling incredibly over-worked.
I honestly thought that I could keep the job down, but here's why it's so taxing.
- Shift changes where my shifts get changed without me knowing. - Co-workers not giving me proper training. - Co-workers not understanding that I don't have the proper training. - Co-workers being frustrated at me after the last two are explained.
I was doing so well, and I really enjoyed the work. But coupled with what's been happening at home and work, I don't know what to do. It's so bad that those stupid suicidal thoughts are sneaking back into my head again.
I really thought I could keep the job for longer than a week.
I spoke to the manager today and explained that I couldn't keep working. She said she "needed me" and "I don't hire people to fire them". I'm going to finish up the rest of my week ( Thursday) and talk again.
Fuck, what a disappointment I am.

Re: Guess who just got back from work!
I don't think so in the slightest. You got a job and have tried your best and its not your fault if the first job you got wasn't right for you. I'm sorry to hear that you had to reassess things but sometimes it's necessary. I'm not sure how it works but will you stay long enough to receive a paycheck?
You shouldn't think that you've failed but consider instead what you'll do next.

Re: Guess who just got back from work!
You really should bring these things up with your employer. Say that you are concerned you are not getting the proper training and that you don't see it as being fair that you are given such a hard time about it, because its not fair. Its one thing if you had been fully trained and are still having problems- then I could understand the frustration- but it doesn't make sense otherwise. You shouldn't have to shoulder all of that on your own. If they are unwilling to help you out, then at that point, you are probably right in thinking that moving on is the best option. However, do consider the fact that your employer does seem to like you. So.. even if you don't perform up to others' expectations, at least you are still earning money and building up work experience. Do try to stick around a bit longer though... its definitely better as a reference the longer you are employed there. Hopefully your boss will work with you here and tell those asshats to stop pestering you and help you learn this stuff instead. Either way, I wish you luck and sorry to hear things aren't quite going as you hoped. Working world can definitely be a tough one.

I worked from 11 P.M. to 7 A.M. this morning. The graveyard shift, I guess. What a great time I had!
We got attacked by a giant swarm of moths because someone didn't turn the lights off, so they just stuck to the windows, trying to get in. They literally blocked the entire window.
I cleaned, priced stuff, trained, stocked the vault (the cooler for pop and cold stuff), and worked the till. It was really kinda fun. I put myself into Tetris mode when I was stocking. =P
My pay today was $11/hour, and since I worked 8, it's a measly little $88 dollars. But, hey. I had fun, and I'm working with fun people.
The downside is my feet are sore. =(
I didn't think I'd like working, but it's actually kinda fun. Let's see if this trend continues. | | | | |
You have to be a hikikomori to understand your post. Normal people would say, "happy for having to work???" It's funny how society tells young people/students that "you either have fun now or later." I didn't go to school and had hell. People who chose to have fun later seemed to have fun in high school/college and fun later as well.

Re: Guess who just got back from work!
Well, I recently got another job.
I work in the resturant as a kitchen helper/dishwasher.
From my 7-11 job to this? It's a lot better, I like to think.
I definitely enjoy the work a lot more than I'd ever imagine.

Re: Guess who just got back from work!
congratulations on finding a job(s) man, I know exactly where you're coming from. I got my first job about two years ago and in the beginning I could only think about how useless i felt. I work in a restaurant and everyday I would look at the clock and get depressed at how long it took me to get through one case vegetables. That combined with standing on my feet for eight hours at a time had me really depressed. I began to think how useless I was and how hard even an "easy" job could be for someone like me. The first two weeks I thought about quitting just so I could leave early, or faking sickness. But I stuck with it and with some emotional help from my mom I got through it. Now I have been working in that place for close to two years and it is pretty tolerable most days. I say tolerable only because I have to deal with customers on a regular basis, but If I went back to my first position I would be pretty happy. Anyways good luck man, just remember that everyone was bad at their job when they started. With time i'm sure things will get better.
