Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. That was a pleasant surprise, man. I haven't heard that song in a while, and I needed something mellow. Glad you've joined the ranks! :cheers

I'll go ahead and give mine away: Soulfly - Son Song. I love that song.

Here's my first contribution. I'm still a beginner so this is an easy riff to play but I should have memorized the strum pattern. Plus I desperately need a metronome, haha. Should be easily recognizable though. Have fun, kids.

Are you eventually going to tell us what the mystery riff is, FONE?

:inlove

I'm really impressed Syppress, you get a clean tone, it sounds great. How did you record the sound so well?
It's a good job Fone was here so quickly, I wouldn't have guessed it.

FONE is correct. Good job. Thanks for pushing me to do it. :D

Reanimator, I use one of those standing desk mic things, a really cheap one I bought a few years ago + Audacity. I put the mic right in front of the sound hole, with mic boost off and I try to play softly. Normally if I strum too hard, especially with mic boost, it sounds like shit, haha. I attribute the good tone to my sweet, cheapass Epiphone DR-100.

I'm glad you guys liked it. I was nervous about posting it. :inlove

I only took one run at each song so please mind the many mistakes. I think you should guess these ones easily, anyway.

Oh, and sorry for breathing so loudly over that one riff, didn't realise my nose was so close to the camera.

Technically one is a solo, but I wanted to anyway just because.

I think I have almost all of them, but I'll just guess one so other people can have fun. Get it? No? Metallica - One. Haha, I am clever.

Bad ass playing, man!

Michael Jackson - Beat It

I'm curious as to what that last one is. It sounds really good. I'll be posting some riffs next week.

That's right Syppress. Fortunately this is Name that Riff and not, Name that Song, because I didn't really play the song at all and just a loose amalgamation of riffs from it in whatever order I felt like.

The last one was Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer, but I'm not at all surprised it was indecipherable with my horrid timing, missed notes and so on.
He's a quick one until Syppress gets over his bleeding fingers and shows us what he's been learning.

Nobody? I thought it was quite obvious. Bear in mind I didn't strictly adhere to how it was supposed to be played though. I listened to it a few times, looked at the tab a while later and just tried to play it from memory. My recollection of how it went was a little off in places but I think its pretty similar overall.

It wasn't.

(I best listen to the original again in case it doesn't sound as close as I think it does.)

I didn't even see you posted a new one. I KNOW I've heard it, I just can't put my finger on it. You always post really good ones that I kick myself after finding out what it is, haha. I can't get Led Zeppelin out of my mind, but that might be because of the similarity to Stairway. Fuck, I'm going to hate myself after I find out.

Riffs coming soon (I need more practice!)

EDIT: Yeah, 'kay, I'm kicking myself. Nicely done.

Suedehead was right! Well done. :grin

I'm looking forward to yours Syppress but I'm willing to wait for you to get it perfect first. I don't doubt you should deliver something good with the one you posted last time.

I didn't realize that you guys had posted 1000 times since I last looked here! I was recording a song, and I figured I'd just not label it and make it my next NTR submission. This is an entire song, so it's more than just a riff, but hey, I created the thread! :D

I don't know it but I can recognise a fantastic rendition of something. What I mean to say is, great playing.

I gave up on the song I've been trying to learn for now, but here's a little something. Not really a riff though. Also I fucked up a part, so that's kind of funny. If nobody gets it, I'll record the actual recognizable riff from the song.
