Inspired by the tv thread.
All I listen to anymore is my Ipod. Guess I'm just getting old but they play so much garbage on the radio. When my car battery died I didn't even bother to reprogram the radio buttons.

No, I'd rather listen to what I want to listen to...not what the radio decides to play. Which is usually shit.

Yeah, it kind of amazes me that radio still even exists, let alone that they can sell those Sirius radios.

When I drive, I listen to the radio. Sometimes sports talk and other times just mainstream junk. I know most of the stuff is "terrible" and I don't necessarily disagree with that perspective, but I still find I am able to find enjoyment in listening to it for what it is and nothing more.

I'm always surprised when I hear that shows like Chris Evan's and Chris Moyle's are getting millions of listeners. Other than when in the car, I can't think of any reason to listen to a radio over watching tv. But that's just me.

The adverts on the radio are a special kind of annoying.

No, because I hate the crap that they play on the radio. There was this college station sort-of near me that I used to listen to a few years ago. It had some really innovative, unique music on it, but it rarely ever came in & I haven't been able to get it to come in at all since we moved to a new place 2 1/2 years ago.

no ads, and they play a large variety of music from classical to indie to jazz to whatever. it's gr8

I only listen to NPR. It's my alarm. Also, sometimes on rare occasions in the morning on the way to school when I'm not in the mood for any music period. That special breed of NPR newscaster voice is so soothing.

Other than that, no. The radio is stupid. Even if the music didn't suck, there's still 10 minutes of commercials between songs and inane hosts with nothing intelligent to say.

Stuff like 6 Music is really good, as there's plenty of music i'll discover on there (Craig Charles' Funk and Soul show is fucking awesome, for example), and listening to stuff like 5 Live for sport is good too. Nothing else though really.

If I was a radio host on a mainstream station, I'd kill myself. I wouldn't be able to endure listening to the same shitty songs by no-talent hacks over and over again.

I'm like other people here in that I like to listen to what I want, when I want. Even to listen to music on random play on software music players is difficult for me.

I sometimes listen to the in-game radios on counter strike matches etc there is usually good music that suits the gameplay too hehe.

Nope, I never listen to the radio anymore. All they ever play on it is mainstream bullshit and bad rock music.

i listen to the classical and jazz stations when i'm driving, but other than that i don't listen to the radio at all. i too like the good Dr. am surprised that it still exists.

i listen to satellite radio. like, XM/Sirius. FM radio makes me hurt.

I only listen to the radio if Hamish and Andy are on. They are comedians and I think their show is great.
Radio music is shit though. And radio ads drive me nuts, they are even more annoying than tv ads.

I ran a college radio station for two years. Thus, I listen to radio out of loyalty to other people like me who would fucking love to spin those discs but since no one listens to radio, they can't since every station is getting taken over by ClearChanel bullshit and have no control over their programming. I listen pretty much exclusively to UWMilwaukee's radio station, occasionally to the only other non-ClearChanel station in my area, which is an alt. rock station that's not bad.

Occasionally while channel surfing to avoid commercials I'll sit in and listen to the Top 40 station just because I find a lot of those songs absolutely hilarious.

I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car. I'm not a fan of the top music on the radio nowadays so it's usually a pain. I do enjoy the soft classics from the 80s and 90s. It's a tad nostalgic.

Not really. There will be times that I ride in a car and I will hear a song that catches my attention. Which I'll download from itunes later. But most of the songs on the radio don't really appeal to me. So I don't make it a point to listen to the radio all that often.
