First job. Working at like a 7-11 type place... and its brutal. As i was telling vsnare on msn, i have to work deli, stock shit, unloading merchandise from trucks, clean shit, all while having to magically work the cash register and tend to customers. We basically have a list of chores/duties aside from Deli and cash register/customers that is over 20 things and they [the manager] expect you to finish all of it in your shift. Plus you don't get lunch breaks. And the pay is shitty ($7.25/hr) and the hours are completely erratic; yesterday i had to work 9am-5pm, tomorrow 2pm-10pm, next day 10am-5pm.

edit: if this type of shit-job doesn't give you incentive to go to college then nothing will.

Post Re: So i started working
My sister worked at a 7-11 for a while, and so did one of her best friends. I don't think my sister cared for it much, but it was another thing she could add to her long resume. Because of it, she gets hired easily now, and more importantly, gets hired at high-paying places.

I envy people who started working at a young age. I'd kill to have a good resume to show people so that I could get a good job, but... :(

All I've mostly done is farm work which doesn't mean shit on a resume.

Good luck, Cface. Nice to hear you're working.
I worked a very similar job a while back, only this place had showers and sleeping rooms upstairs.
Guess who had to drano and snake the semen-clogged shower drains between shifts when the crackhead janitor failed to show up?

Welcome to the working world. It can seem shitty, but it isn't all that bad. Just another facet of life that we have to learn to tolerate in order to accomplish what is meaningful to us.

Yeah it sucks. And if you go to college you'll just have more work, more responsibility, more stress.

Of course, minus the strength and endurance of the spoiled brats. Their 'strength' is in the negatives and only make chu weaker. :laugh

welcome to Nightmare in Hell, the world of minimum wage. the best advice i can give is to keep applying at different places or attend school because you'll never be promoted, and the list of shit they will expect you to do for the same pay while reminding you of how replaceable you are will continue to grow until you leave. the hours suck, the pay sucks and the customers suck. the only thing you have to look forward to is your paycheck which will give you the spins you when you think of how much you had to go through for next to nothing.
i'm thanking my lucky stars i have a shit application and haven't had any call backs yet but it's just a matter of time before i join you in your min wage woes Cface. good luck my friend.
