^ I don't think obsessing over one's appearance is shallow if one outs as much creativity into it as you evidently do. Based on the photos you've posted, your look is like an ever-changing work of art. I admire that.

Anime series. I'm going to try to find enough good series to keep me "busy" until the end of the year. I've read the plots of hundreds of anime series in the past few days.

These are the series that I've either watched/want to watch:

Eden of the East (I don't think that has been released out of Japan yet. I've fan-subbed untouched Japanese DVDs of it)

Image

Haibane Renmei (great series. I really want to find something that's on par with it)

Kino's Journey

Image

Last Exile

Planetes

Image

Spice and Wolf

Image

Serial Experiments Lain

Image

Texhnolyze

I also have anime films and short films, most being fansubs and bootlegs which haven't been released outside of Japan. A couple of them are Angel's Egg and Deep Imagination.

I want an eden of the east phone. Also I'm currently mildly obsessed with this place, IRC, not eating, my trampoline, gayness and my ears. My ears being the only staple, I stretch them.

'I'd be all "I want a 1000 hamburgers in the next 10 minutes." and then 10 minutes later "I want a 1000 hamburgers in the next 10 minutes and a truck to remove the 1000 hamburgers I already have". I'm hungry.....

If you like Haibane Renmei you should read Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murikami. It was a big part of the inspiration. I don't know of another anime series that's quite the same.

I can't describe to you, Suedehead, just how much you remind me of myself when I was your age. I listened to the same bands, read the same kinds of books, and, yes, I was obsessed with Nazi Germany well into my early twenties. It actually makes me feel sad for you, because it sounds like you're afflicted with a strong sense of the tragic nature of human life, which can be very isolating in a world that adamantly refuses to see the ugly reality of things, choosing instead to lose itself in a stupor of cute Hello Kitty merchandise, the saccharine sweet and facile optimism of self-help platitudes, and insipidly happy bubblegum pop music.

Post Re: Your current obsession(s)
I admit that the events that took place during the time of Nazi Germany almost seem like they could have happened in a film or on another world which makes them captivating, but I always force myself to steer clear of reading too much about this time period as it always leaves me feeling depressed. I think we should remember Nazi Germany as it reminds us to never turn to fascism again, but, unfortunately, too many people who read about Nazi Germany do it because they think it's "cool" and hold Hitler with high regard. I doubt Suedehead reads about Nazi Germany due to finding it cool, but you never know.

You know, just because you're white and aren't a Jew doesn't mean that Hitler wouldn't have been a prick to you back then. Even if you're racist and are anti-semantic you should realize that Hitler's views weren't completely intelligent and that he had a very unrealistic vision. The guy likely was just pissed off due to going through tragic events in his life. He essentially took his anger out on people and didn't plan things out too well - mostly everything he did was out of anger; he was very reactionary. I don't consider all racists as being idiots, but Hitler was quite the dolt. He may have achieved academic excellence, but people who climb high up the academic ladder can still be foolish and thus do foolish things.

A couple of classic Pilkington quotes...

"Honestly, there's some weird stuff out there. D'you know these fish in the Amazon that go up your knob? Now everyone's sayin' to me "you've seen the Amazon? That's amaaazing", well how come the stuff that lives in it doesn't wanna live in it, they'd rather live in me knob?"

"Y'know you can see it for miles, it goes on for miles all the hills an' everyfing..... but so does the M6. D'youknowwhaahmean? And that does a job, you can drive on that."

BahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHA. lol

I've found myself watching a lot of profile shows on serial killers. Not sure if it would be classified as a obsession, since I've always had an interest in serial killers. I'm not really someone who has one thing that they focus all their time and energy into, my obsessive tendencies are spread out on lots of different subjects.
