To go with the autumn plum/aubergine and red/yellow theme I'm also getting three different motives stretched on canvas. So there's no frame and no border, it looks more uniform and creates the illusion of a root system, lanterns in the branches and leaves at the top. It also looks like the leaves on the ground in the first picture have fallen from the top, when in fact it's pictures of two different trees.
Canvas also gives a more modern and clean feeling and I think it works well since I already have framed art covering other walls.
I'm going to put these above an antique chinese bench/sideboard with ornate carvings kind of which look like roots in themselves. And beside it I'll place a shoji lamp in dark walnut.
