 Re: Video Game Music
Indeed, video game music can be pretty awesome, and I feel it's a bit underrated. Anywho, my personal favourites include Yoshino Aoki's gorgeous soundtrack for Breath of Fire IV, Nobuo Uematsu's work on the Final Fantasy series (especially on V and VII), Daisuke Ishiwatari's BlazBlue OST, Deus Ex, the great ambient soundscapes of the first two Fallout games, what else... Katamary Damacy has a very interesting soundtrack. A nice collection of tunes that are completely different from each other. Oh, also, Metroid Prime 1 and 2 have interesting soundtracks, I like them a lot. I'm definitely leaving something out here (like a lot of NES goodness), but yeah. Video game music is awesome :)

 Re: Video Game Music
I don't care much for most video-game music, but I'll admit - some of the Squaresoft games I've played in the past have had some great soundtracks.
The last Squaresoft game I played was Final Fantasy V via ZSNES (a Super Nintendo emulator). One of the tracks that stood out was 'Lenna's Theme':

I also liked the RE "Safe Haven".
The violin in Chrono Cross always gives me goosebumps.

Castlevaina's Lament of Innocence Main theme is really good. Like, really good. Take a listen.

 Re: Video Game Music
Looking Glass also used to have very nice soundtracks for their games, beside their evenly excellent voice actings.. System Shock 2 had an excellent soundtrack for instance; gloomy and dramatic, fully complementing the cyberpunk theme/atmosphere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bL7I_eWryIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcaQaoqJ5vshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gzEP-WrxzAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCw74txSzZkhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy6X5htsBG4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MHavPjRQ5EIf you like cyberpunk, you might like these. Same goes for their Thief games, very impressive atmosphere due to the music coupled with the voice acting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uR8pcqV_HYSteampunk this time.

 Game music
For gamers who like the sound of their games and those interested in it, how many of you are fascinated by the OST's?
I don't know many people who like this type of music as most would say it's "Not a genre" or "It's alright but boring". As for me, I've been interested and listening to it for many years and I've bought various soundtracks of games. Since then, most of my music folder is made up of it and have over 20 gigs of it. Call me weird, but it's just my own taste and appreciation. My dad used to listen to samples of the music and he was fond of the orchestral versions even though he thought it was composed by Beethoven before I told him of its origins.
Of course, I do have other music from other bands and artists, but I was wondering if anyone else shared this interest.

Damn straight, I love video game sound tracks, remixes, and inspired songs. I used to have quite a collection on my old comp.

 Re: Game music
Some of the most memorable music, I think, to anyone is from video games. Zelda, Final Fantasy, etc. Some of my favorite video game music is from Donkey Kong Country for GB, Brave Fencer Mushashi and Spyro the Dragon.

This is a site I used to visit back in the day, http://ocremix.org/ they do remixes of video games songs. It's a really nice community and worth a visit.

 Re: Game music
I still pay a visit to the OC Remix site from time to time. I've downloaded many songs from there and I do quite enjoy the songs fans contribute to it. My favorite remixes were ones from the Chrono Trigger and Zelda albums.
