The Suikoden games are some of the few games I can return to an infinite number of times, and the music plays a big part. You're the first one besides me on here who even mentions Suikoden. It has a smaller fanbase than for example Final Fantasy, but the real fans tend to be very hardcore on the other hand. I didn't enjoy a Suikoden game to 100% since 3 though... I think it's because the producer who created those games quit and after that the series was just a franchise produced by other people but with a similar theme. However, the music is good in 4,5 etc too imo...

These songs sum up Suikoden to me... The chinese and indian influences are so typical.

Ahhh, I really love the Suikoden games, they're so under rated. Yes, the music has very electic styles, Japanese, Indian, Celtic and Chinese;just like the cultures within the games.
Suikoden IV was a major dissapointment, but I found Suikoden V was a fine return to form, and my favourite after Suikoden II. I never had the chance to play the third game, as it was never released in Europe. I really hope there will be a sixth game. The current state of the JRPG genre on consoles makes me worry though. Even if it is released they might bastardise it like Square did with FFXIII, to appeal to a mass audience and maximise profits.

I bought an american PS2 and an electric adapter just to be able to play 3. It was worth it. Never played a game which was narrated and directed so perfectly. More like a movie than a game in some aspects. Kind of like "door slams - close up surprised expression - close shot on a pair of boots entering a room" but without the typical cutscene feeling. Rather primitive 3d graphics but still I never played a jrpg which utilized 3d in such a movie-like style.

Speaking of Suikoden 3 and its soundtrack. I just have to post this. It's the infamous Duck Village music. Annoying but strangely relaxing at the same time. It plays a lot throughout the game because Duck Village is probably one of the most revisited places.

I'm happy to see so many here like the same soundtracks as me I'm totally in love with any of the Suikoden OSTs, with any of Motoi Sakuraba (Baten Kaitos, Tales, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Series) Yasunori Mitsuda(Chrono) works and naturally with most of Uematsu's(FF) as well. And Touhou of course.

Short Circuit- A Dungeon Them that is the most unique I've ever seen.


Sea of Rage- Final Boss theme. The unique part about this boss theme is that it GOES THROUGH ALL THE MELODIES OF THE PREVIOUS THEMES. You can hear many past dungeon/boss themes in this song alone, makes it beautiful to fight to.

I could list a lot more soundtracks, but I can hardly remember the music from the hundreds of videogames I've played. I think I remember Final Fantasy VIII and IX having good soundtracks, but I can't remember. All I remember is that they were great games. I mostly can remember the scores from games I played from the ages of six until twelve.

When it comes to videogames, I mostly tend to enjoy RPG music.

PS - I didn't embed songs from Final Fantasy IV or VI since I put too much time into this post.

It's my all time favorite game too.

Brilliant OST - Photek, FSOL, Source Direct, Orbital, Fluke, etc. I still have the tape kicking around somewhere.

Jun Ishikawa is so awesome.
